Video display issue

I have a 600M with the 64 meg video card. I am in grad school and do a fair amount of presentations. The iissue I am having is when i connect the laptop to the projector I cannot get the computer to show the presentation on the projector and the laptop screen. Its either one or the other. Many other students laptops do it right from the start where I have to push FN?CRT/LCD. Any ideas about this as I am the one in my classes that is becoming the unofficial tech guy. Thanks for the help.

You have the Radeon 9000 right? in the driver option theres a setting to clone your display by selecting both the projector and the lcd screen of the laptop. having both button blue will clone each others display where as red will disable that paricular one

Yes, I have the Radeon 9000. I am not sure what you mean by the driver option, where is that? I have gone into the display properties and tried things through there, is that what your talking about? Thanks.

yup.. goto display properties => settings => advanced=> there should be a tab for ATI radeon and check the setting
have really touched on the ATi setting but i asumme it is similer to nvidia
