it was an 8970, 1 gig Ram, P3.4GHZ, etc etc.

I put everything on high 6X AA, 16X AF, usually get around 40-50fps, but this was taken outside the train station with alot of stuff going on. Doesnt pause or slowdown so its really nice to play.

what res. do u run it at? 1680x1050? cause with everything on that high at that res running like that would be impressive.

Mosh, I've got the exact same setup as you. BTW, have you got the WSXGA+ screen or the WXGA+ screen?

Would love to know exactly what setting you're using? Resolution? In-game settings? What drivers you're using? All the details you can possibly tell us.

I'm still waiting for my HL2 to arrive!!! So when I get it I want to run it at optimal settings.

Unless he's a long-time lurker and hasn't said anything here for months on end, I'd assume that he's got the WSXGA+ screen. The WXGA+s aren't even available anymore. Pretty much us early adopters got it as the WSXGA+ came out soon thereafter and replaced the 1440x900 screen.

As for the game, Dang! That first shot isn't too far off from looking like a real photo. From everything I've heard, I want to play HL2 and I don't even like FPS's!

i think it is close of a real foto, no???
they take real pictures to make the 3d terrain, right???

I think I have the WSXGA screen,
anyway from memory:

Resolution: 1400x900X32
Settings: Everything I could find in the video settings to the HIGHEST possible including AA X6 and AF X16, I think vsync is off by default
Drivers: Cracked 4.11 Catalysts using DHMODDER or catalyst cracker
Worst thing is that I had Norton Internet Security running in the background which eats ALOT of cpu+memory up and It was still smooth.

BTW, Method are you using AA or AF??

Agreed.

Especially when you're on the roof waiting for Father Grigori to get the cart to you and they keep coming up the pipes and making that clanging noise. My mother was cooking thanksgiving dinner and she was pulling out some pots which made a very similar noise and it gave me the chills.

But damn, that game was amazing. Given the ending I'm really hoping for a Half-Life 3. Even if they have to take another six years.

Also, who else thinks the HL series could be a good movie or miniseries. Yes, I know everyone's doing game-movies to death but I really dig the story in HL (I also would pay to see a Red Faction movie, but that's a discussion for a different thread). HL1 would be reasonably cheap and easy to do, whereas HL2 would cost a fortune. But if HL1 were succesful then the profits would be used on HL2. Anyways, just a random thought which turned into quite a tangent. (This post was only going to be one word and an emoticon! )

Ya a movie based on the half life series would seriously kick ass if done right. There are so many possibilities for profit based off of this game its amazing.
