Hi guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum, as I have been lurking around here for the past couple of weeks doing research on a laptop. I finally decided on the 9200, although I am still unsure, but since nobody has it yet to give reviews, I might as well review it myself.

I kept cancelling and reordering because I always came upon a better deal, I finally settled(hopefully) on an EPP purchase that saved me a little over a $900

Inspiron 9200, Pentium M 725 (1.60GHz)
17 inch UltraSharp Wide ScreenUXGA for Inspiron 9200
512MB DDR 333MHZ 2 DIMMS for Inspiron 9200
128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, for Inspiron 9200
60GB Ultra ATA 7200RPM Hard Drive for Inspiron 9200
8X DVD+/-RW Drive for Inspiron9200
Save $29 Dell Wireless 1450 Interna Wireless (802.11a/b/g,54Mbps) for Inspiron 9200 Int Truemobile Bluetooth Wireless, for Inspiron 9200

4yrs Warranty, Customer Care, Tech Support, Express Tech support and a bunch of other support stuff.

Total Price after $200 mail-in rebate
$2023.85

What do you guys think? I can always cancel again.

I also see that mostly everyone else got the XGA+ screen, I just wanna know why. Will I see smaller icons even though the screen is bigger.

Well nice to meet you all. Hajimemashite

Welcome to the forum...

That's awesome. My dad is a EPP member and I love it!

I am getting my next laptop through the dell EPP site.

The WUXGA screen has more pixels for the same height and width in inches as the SGA+.... You know what, never mind. Read the FAQ. Should be a great system! I'm psyched about mine.

I got the XGA+ screen 'cos my eyes are kind of prone to getting really tired, and that'd probably be complicated by the smaller text on the other screen.

But, y'know, 17 inch screens are bloody huge, so it'll probably be nice on either.

hmmm... look at my specs on mine (except i have normal warranty); I got mine for 1600 without any rebates... it might add up to be the same, but i would check on the coupon thread and see if you can make a better deal with home and use coupons

Inu Yasha,

I guess it does all add up to the same price, since I got the 60gb HD @ 7200rpm and the DVD RW. I did some estimates and my platinum service plan was around $675.

The coupons I used was a $350 coupon, the 12%EPP discount(around $310), a hundred dollar off coupon, the $50 free shipping, and then a $200 mail-in rebate.

I did order from the Home department but I decided to play around with the specs in EPP and I basically get the 4yr warranty, Cus Care, Tech, Express Tech, Weekend and Nights, and some other stuff for abour 170 dollars more. So I went with that.

The XGA+ scrren offers better brightness over the UXGA. 200 nits compared to 185 nits. They both offer the same contrast ratio of 300:1.

Shame the LCD still sit at 35ms refresh rates.

Imaging a 12ms laptop LCD......no ghosting at all!

I got the 350 from the Delif game, they give me EPP coupons and the 200 mail in rebate because I got the platinum package.
