I purchased this Nook Color specifically because I was taking a very long trip to China and wanted to be able to read without carrying a ton of books. I also liked that it had email capability...
This is an awesome mouse with an excellent grip for a mid sized to large size hand. Right-handed, comfortable, trendy, upscale, red, responsive, functional, task oriented.
Overall A+++

Assuming you know the password, once in the Bios clear the password with the enter key, then where the password is now blank, press Enter again, Save & Exit, and it should be removed.
Thanks, but the problem is that it won't even allow me to get into the bios, it goes straight to the 'locked icon' page without prompting for any passwords.
If a hard drive password is set and you cant remember it, Toshiba will not be able to do anything. You will need to get a new hd. If it's a BIOS password and you have proof of ownership Toshiba will reset it for a fee.
When the laptop is turned on it goes straight to the locked screen. From what I understand, there are 3 levels of security? And in the event that proof of purchase cannot be provided, there is no means of unlocking it? I find that hard to believe. I'm guessing you can bring it to a shop that specializes in these types of machines and get it done. Thanks for the feedback though.
There is no "power on" password. There is a Bios, Hard drive, and a user sign-on password. It appears that the password being referred to is the Hard drive password. Please clarify.
sedatedpoet sorry, probably should have asked in the beginning what model Toshiba and OS you have. And are you certain you are using the proper method to access the BIOS on startup? If you do get to the BIOS screen you will need to know the password to reset it. You can do a web search for "BIOS password" to get other info. Other than that you can call a Toshiba service center to see what it takes from them to reset it (if it is a BIOS password).
Incase anyone wants to know, i've brought it to many stores without any success. Toshiba claims that it will need to be shipped in to them provided that there's purchases documents to accompany the laptop. However I was lucky enough to find a small laptop place that's working on it right now, they "have their way" of unlocking it..
