Sager acting sluggish??

I have been noticing my 8790 acting very sluggish lately. I'm not sure what may have caused it. I have ran all scan disk, adaware, spybot programs and still running slow. It takes a while for programs to load, IE to open pages, and I've been noticing freeze ups lately. Well not freeze ups, but where the PC doesn't respond and you have to wait for a period of time for it to catch up to you. I was trying to revert back to a previous restore point. Every restore point I've tried so far is "unable to restore". In fact, I have never been able to get that System Restore to work properly. I have a manual restore point set up when i first got the system. I don't really want to revert back that far due to having to reinstall all my programs. Any suggestions/ideas????

Although my 8790 doesn't run slow, I do find that my OS created restore points do not work. I believe though the manual restore points that I create do work.

You do not say whether you also ran an anti virus program to see if a virus has slowed your computer down. You might also want to go to run and type in MSCONFIG and look at your startup group. More than likely the only program you need to startup with windows is your anti virus program.

and always keep the longshot in your head, that the harddrive *could* be going bad....
keep your ears open for clicking, grinding, and any strange noises....
does your computer take a while to boot?

ibm has a utility to test harddrives...it creates a bootable floppy....you reboot off the floppy and it runs a surface test....
this will work on most disks...not sure about toshiba....if you want it, i can send it to you....or you can just check out the toshiba site to see if there is something similar....or just send an email to sager tech support and ask if there is anything they can send you to help you diagnose the hard drive...

spyware programs do not catch everything...you didn't mention AV program.

A strangely sluggish computer is often indicative of something running in the background. Chack Task Manager for processes that are running and see if any seem odd.
