Just bought a samsonite case at local Compusa. Too small for this big monster.......on the way back.......my search continues.
Anybody have a Case Logic Case?

This site has some pretty cool designs for laptop bags, but I think only the backpacks would fit an 8886.

8886 case?

So which of the cases that pctorque sells fit the 8886? I keep looking at the interior specs and it seems to be too small? I would perfer a backpack I guess so that I can carry it if/when I am stupid enough to move around with the beat...

Thx

The ones you can select from the system builder all fit which are:

Targus CL55
Targus TSB212 backpack
Targus TSB215 backpack
Targus TSB312 backpack
Targus TSB315 backpack

I know the interior listing for the backpacks makes it look as though it won't fit, but it does from personal experience. It's snug, but doesn't take any pulling, grunting, or anything out of the ordinary to put it in safely.

lsd mentioned asome hardcases earlier and posted a link:
http://www.sumdex.com/home/hardside_cases.htm

I was really diggin the aluminum case (i have actually been looking for a good cheap one fer quite some time) and it was REELY expensive at the sumdex link - $290. So I searched and found it for $110 at another site:
http://store.newadventures.com/alharcas.html

if anybody is interested in aluminum this is the best bet! (frum wut I've seen so far....)

the bags pockets are big with lots of room also in the middle it has a devider section for those papers
this would be a great bag option for you for this beast

Thanks for the info. It does look like a great option. If I come across a distributor that has it I will gladly add it.

Does the part that holds the computer come out? If so will it accomadate the
power supply as well?
Today I actually used the 8886 outside of my house (lol, read the review for specifics) and I used the standard case that comes with the 8886. It actually wasn't too bad. Fit great, fit everything I needed it to, and it held up to a bike ride in the cold, lol. I mean it isn't heavy artillary or anything, but for $15 it isn't a bad case for the money savers.

yes you can take it out and the power supply fits just fine
with lost of room

I bought the Targus Deluxe Universal Case from Best Buy yesterday and the fit front to back on the 8886 is nice and snug but on each side there is an inch of room. Should a case be snug all the way around? Also what was a little confusing is on the front of the case the computer compartment dimensions/interior are listed as 16.5" x 12.25" x 2.5"and thats the reason I bought it but on the Targus website it says device compatabilty is only 16.25" x 1.75" x 11.75"

Should I have looked at device compatability instead of the interior dimensions/computer compartment demensions which weren't on the case.

I finally bought a Case Logic called the Case Logic Protector Series NCS2. My local Compusa had it for 59.00. In the case the 5660 has about 1 inch free on the right side with the laptop snugged up against the left side. The laptop strap is offcentered to the left so you can try and fit something on the right hand side. But not much free space with the 5660. The front to back is very snug, meaning when you slid it in, the front and back pad are actually holding the laptop...if that makes any sense. But it has enough storage for all my gear, which is respectable.

Usually dimensions on lappy cases aren't 100%, lol. It's best to actually try it, or at least make sure it isn't too small... too big is ok in that you can put something else in, a pad or something. If it's a hard case, you don't want the lappy flopping around inside, though, lol, so be careful of that of course.

I love my vanguard aluminum case...but they dent easily. Mine got a few when some asshat tried to steal my sager but then again, had it been a soft case the sager would have taken the damage from the fall rather than the case. I have the smallest of the ones i've seen (comp usa stocks it for 80 i believe). It fits my 5620, power supply & cable, a couple pcmcia cards, ms optical mouse blue and a pair of small sony phones if you cram in it just right.
