satellite a75-s226 crash [shutting off]
i got this machine in aug 2004...6 months ago.
lately its been spontaneously shutting off. [power off]
typically this is under heavy loads...
...ripping cds...photoshop...running heavy graphic apps.
i am 98% sure its a "heat" problem.
i know this thread has been primarily about a static issue.
but i cant replicate that static problem.
i live in a cold climate...forced air heat...lots of static.
but i dont think i fall under this issue.
but i did want to mention this for others with the same issue.
i believe its a dust build-up on the inside [heatsink] of the laptop.
i cleaned a large layer of dust from the external intake openings when i first discovered this problem.
that did not solve the entire issue however.
the laptop is hot to the touch.
the hottest spot is on the light silver surface directly above the "PrtSc" key.
one "test" i did do was to point a small room fan directly at the laptop.
this air was focused at the hottest spot. [described above.]
this keeps the machine cool for as long as i need it.
the hot spot is noticably cooler.
i can run all my apps and multitask without any "shutdown" problem.
my next step is to clean the inside.
[any pointers about this from experienced members is appreciated.]
here is a similar thread about the toshiba satellite heat and dust shutdown problem
i also found this toshiba support bulletin regarding the static issue
although they dont mention 'static' in the bulletin.
they only say 'reboots after touching the computer'.
