You can run character map to list all the special characters for a particular font. Or you can use the alt+#### shortcut.
Alt+248 makes it. °
°°°hold down alt and then using the number pad type. You have to use the number pad you can't use the numbers along the top of the keyboard.

aren't you glad I didn't type °

Yeah, I have a slick excel spreadsheet that I made...
Take 3 columns of 32 numbers starting at 128, then the second column starts at 160 and so on until 255 (the last number in the right-most column).
Then insert (or if you read all of this before doing the numbers above) a BLANK column immediately to the RIGHT of each column of numbers... here you enter "=CHAR(A1)" (where 'A1' is where 128 is), then copy that down and repeat for each column.
Print this out, and there's your cheat-sheet.
ALT +0### (i.e. ALT+0128 for €)

Of course, the formatting sucks, but that's the idea. Then you know to hit "ALT" and "0" before each 3 different numbers (i.e. ALT+0128 = €) - don't forget that leading zero.
This is where the 888x models really shine, as this sucks on the top-row numbers (keypad is much faster).

PS: PM me with your e-mail if you want me to send you the XLS sheet.
EDIT: changed font, formatting is better now.
