Where exactly does it say this cause I'm not finding it?

NM.. found it..
So did 03 run all the way through? Also did you install everything in the exact order they tell you too? Alot of people says this makes a big difference..

Yep 03 hasd no problems running and completing.. getting score of 1700+

Installed in order.. kept canceling the camera install cause its pointless atm. Didn't install the automail thinggy either. But everything else installed in order

Windows XP
SP1
Cd Drivers in order except automail
3dMark03 (runs)
3dMark05 (reboots itself)

On the phone with PCTorques support atm but I'm doubting it
post #51 of 65
What about 05 did that work? Nice score by the way..did you get that at stock? Very nice..

err nice score? I majorly typo'd that.. should be 7100+ at stock

I click run 3mdark in 05 and it complete the load then the screen fades to black like its about to start (on rare occasion it does) then the screen shuts off as it reboots.

I managed to make it about halfway through 05 on the prevous OS install but it rebooted and never gotten that far since.

PCT support said since I am able to recreate it so easily Its most likely hardware so I'll probably be calling them tomorrow to RMA it
post #53 of 65
Oh well we tried... Sorry it didn't work out Zypherys...Im calling friday too for a RMA..I called today but then we got hit with a snow storm and I had to rush out to buy up food before the stores closed for tomorrow and it got to bad..

Well sager called me and had me send them a breakdown of all the things I tried. Tech said he would check into it can get back to me. Well it's just about COB for them and they still haven't called back or contacted me about my laptop.

My faith in Sager wanes....

My email to Sager:

I received the 9860 on Tue 11/23.

Installed WinXP w/ SP2 and the drivers from the CD. Audio and Video drivers were downloaded from sagernotebooks.com. Everything appears fine, all drivers installed w/o errors. Installed 3dMark03, 3dMark05, AquaMark3, and Sandra2005.

3dMark03 completes successfully with score of 7.1k+.
3dMark05 + AquaMark3 load up first test for each then system reboots w/o any error given. 3dMark05 on rare occasion completes first test but reboots after loading second test. Attempts to lower system default resolution to match program defaults produced no effect on outcome. System still reboots itself w/o warning.
Sandra2005 system checks reveal no notciable errors or issues. XP system reports no drivers conflicts or recognizable issues with drivers in device manager.
Multiple attempts to run 3dMark05 and AquaMark3 fail resulting in reboots. 3dMark03 still completes successfully.
Installation of game Lineage 2 results in reboot when it attempts to load first graphical screen(login).

Decide to perform total barebones install. (C partition delete/recreate/NTFS reformat)

Installed WinXP SP1 (tales of Sp2 not acting correctly had me try w/o Sp2 at all)
Installed the drivers from the CD (did not install drivers downloaded from sagernotebooks.com this time)
Currently only WinXP SP1 and default drivers from CD installed.
Installed 3dMark03. Successfully completes tests w/o problems.
Installed 3dMark05 + AquaMark3. No change. Still reboots after loading first test.
Installed Memtest32. Successful run w/o errors or reported problems.
Continued attempts to run 3dMark05 result in reboots. (Occasional system locks when not at program default resolution rather then reboot. But reboot is norm)
Installed Lineage 2. Managed to load login screen but reboots when it attempts to load next graphical screen.
Installed BattleField: Vietnam. Successfully loads to the game chooser screen but reboots when it completes loading the map and tries to display the game.
Installed Jedi Academy. Program loader errors out with the ONLY error message I get out of all this. (Error included in attachment. Notice it is fine till it tries GL)

All done in rooms 70*F or less with Mobile Meter showing CPU temps at 63*C max. (Heat dosen't appear to be the issue. Cooling for the laptop ruled out as a factor. Remember 3dMark03 runs fine but will crash immediatly after when running 3dMark05)

-----

Their response:

we have notice the issue with 3Dmark2005. Our engineering team are working it. Once the solution is available, we will let you know.

This is the best response they can give me? No mention of the fact that other then 3dMark03, NOTHING graphical runs.

Are there not some sort of Intel Chipset drivers that need to be installed? Did you try setting the Bios to all default settings?
Thread Starter
The chipset drivers are the first things installed after XP and SP1 or 2.
There are like 8 things in Bios that the user can change. The only things in Bios that were changed to allow installation were the card reader and choice of ATA or RAID.
Everything else is default still

After asking me for the serial # so they could test on a like configured system(I assume)

I got this from Sager Tech Support.
(I am astounded by their troubleshooting and grammatical skills)

" so far, we found that if the system has 4 pieces of 512 MB of DDR memory module installed, the 3Dmark2005 runs fine. We are continue working on this issue."

Umm yea..

Hmm I was showing someone in class how it crashes trying to run 3dMark05 but amazingly enough it actually completed it with a score of 2323.

I ran it again when I got to work and got a score of 2321

Only difference so far is these previous 2 times the power cable wasn't plugged into the laptop.

I just crashed 3dMark05 with the power cable plugged in again.

Installing Farcry to test w/ and w/o the power cable.
