Whoa, nice buy, that's damn cheap

That is a good deal in that there's a dedicated GPU and the processor isn't a celeron.

I think my friend is thinking of buying that laptop. Plz post a comprehensive review on it ;p.

that is dirt cheap for a non-celery cpu and dedicated GPU. though i am happy it came out now, not when i was shopping because (even though i would have saved $700) that lappy wouldn't last me long, i am happy i nearly doubled my budget to end up with what i have.

Yes, please post a review as soon as you get it! I'm really considering getting this one.

Just got an email from Averatec Sales the AV5500 has SIS760 interagrated
video not ATI9600 they said that Newegg,MWave ect. made a mistake.
Why would so many sites make the same mistake?
Eww that could get ugly. It is listed at a LOT of sites as having the M10 (9600)
pretty hot for that price if it has the 9600 pro turbo card.. i dont think newegg advertised it as 9600 dedicated video card though.

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...149-017&depa=0

http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec....iteria=3602850

mwave doesn't mention any 9600 card either.

It is clearly advertised on thier site as having the " ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600 64MB". Look at the system specs ("Detailed Specifications"), in particular the one listed under "Graphics" towards the bottom of the page.
Check for yourself the manual which I downloaded states it has SIS760,makes
sence because it uses sis 760 chipset, same as the A64 Averatec 6210,I saw one in CC and it has SIS 760 video.
I believe you that it has the SIS VGA, it's just bad news that every site selling them has them advertised as having an M10. That leads one to think Averatec made the mistake in listing the specs originally. They may be held accountable for lots of return shipping

The laptop shipped already, and will receive it on Friday.

We shall see.

Amazon, Buy.com, Ecost, NewEgg etc...they all advertised with M10.
you know you can reject the notebook and avoid the disputing the shipping costs.
averatec is located in asia right? so it might be possible that the company produces two different versions of the 5500, one for asian markets and one for the US market (with the 9600). I cant be sure though.
damn sorry to hear that dude!
Any word on this thing yet?
I noticed that both Newegg and Mwave no longer say it has an ATI9600,they
don't list any video card.
They haven't got word to Buy.com yet about the wrong specs. They still list it with the 9600.
