I love it when games actually offer a widescreen ratio in the video settings ahead of time, but for some reason I can only display the game in 1680x1050. I mean, game looks great, but I'd rather play in something more like 1280x768 if it means a few extra FPS. Any time I try to switch to that resolution in game, everything is always formatted weird. Like usually the menus or user interface stuff extended past the edge of the screen. With HL2, the crosshairs wouldn't be in the centre of the screen, but rather down and to the right. Does anyone know how to fix this? I tried just changing the desktop size before entering the game, but depending on the resolution I choose, everything just gets all stretched out and again sometimes beyond the borders of the screen.
