8887 Flickering LCD Problems

Thread Starter
Anyone have any ideas on this (help appreciated, thanks):

8887 lcd screen starts to flicker dramatically consistently after about 10-15 minutes of runtime. Seems to stop when I unplug the charger, but my battery is toast so it will only run about 5 mins on battery. I plug the charger back in and after a few minutes it will start to flicker again:

Anyone have a problem like this?

Any guesses:
Faulty charge adapter?
Problem with the battery being shot causing out of spec voltages?
Problem with the LCD? Or with the video card?

Thanks for your help!

Mine was doing the same thing. It's part of the LCD called an "inverter". Sager had to replace mine. And a few other people have had the same experiences.

Was it under waranty for you? Mine is out of waranty. Any idea of cost to replace?

Thanks,

yeah, is it possible to buy the inverter and replace it myself?

Mine was under warranty, so I have no idea how much it'll cost. I would highly doubt they'd let you install it yourself *IF* it was under warranty as users opening stuff up voids the warranties. But if it's not under warranty to begin with, it's worth asking them. Keep in mind I have no idea what's involved though.

Send Sager or your reseller an email. They'll should be able tell you/find out for you. As with all hardware, sometimes there's a miniscule fault during production that simply takes time to work it's way out. It happens.

Hey JonnySucrose,

I would like to know what you found out about replacing the inverter yourself. I am also experiencing LCD problems, and would like to try a self repair.

Thanks!
