2 512 Mb chips max??

Reading the User's Manual (Looking at user's manual from Uniwill website), I think it said that this laptop only supports RAM chips up to 512 each. Can anyone confirm?

Several vendors sell it with 2GB. Based on that, I ordered 2 1GB sticks. I will let you know when I receive my 259IA3.

I wonder why they don't offer those with custom colors. All the other lappy @ cyberpower and ibuypower sells them in colors.

At about $500 more than a similarly configured one at vicious. They have the much maligned (by me) ridiculous shipping and handling of $45 for ground. Buyers unite and tell vendors to stuff their rush fees and ridiculous handling. Charge what you need to for your computer then compete on features, price and service. These add-on costs simply piss me (and probably some of you) off.

$45.00 for ground shipping (if done via UPS) sound reasonable. If you take a package with the exact same weight to UPS for ground shipping it should be somewhere near 30-40 bucks. Given you have to add money for other things. $45.00 is fairly cheap from other i've seen. heheheh

smile: I think that ibp and cybp just take a few weeks to set up their process for painting the laptops. There was one particular lappy I was focused on for a while that I kept reconfiguring every week or so to watch the price, and after a few weeks the option to paint came up.

This lappy doesn't have an aluminum case by any chance does it? I remember reading somewhere that if it is anodized it is a real bear to take off the anodization in order to paint it, which may be one reason for the delay or permanent lack of an option to paint.

Nope, I believe the case is mag alloy or something. Cool I hope by the time I do get it this March, I could have it BLUE!

sorry i kinda dug this thread up, but i saw this lappy when i was diggin around and the specs/price are pretty sick, but the only thing that bugs me is the 1 year warranty. There is no way to extend it at any site i can think of, so would the safest thing be to buy it barebones (maybe proc installed, cause i really am not sure how to do it with the special laptop cooling solutions, link for help maybe ) and then just install the rest (hdd, mem, networking, etc. etc) myself and get manufacturers warranties? Thx for help!

yea yea, i know i'm pathetic for bumping my own question, but i'm really curious why more attention has not been drawn to this lappy. On ViciousPC, i configured the following for $1720:

1.8 Dothan
15.4" WSXGA (wSxga rare from what i've seen, esp in this price range)
9700pro, 256vram (bit much, but still cool )
2x512 (1 gig) Kingston pc2700
5400 60 gig hdd (brand unknown as of now)
intel 2200bg wireless
dvd/cd-rw combo
xp pro

not a bad setup at all, sexy look, relatively well built from what i've read, but no one really talks about it? is there something i dont know? better deals on something else? not worth it? again, sorry for double post

There's quite a bit of threads if you search "259ia3". I received mine from ViciousPC last night and I'm pleased with it so far. Haven't done much with it yet, though.
