I plan to get more memory and 7200 rpm hd.

Mini Review:
O yah i got my notebook WAY early. It was suppose to ship 11/29 and i got it 11/24. BONUS!

Well my first impressions were very good, the laptop was packaged well. Everything was in the box and correct parts in the system. I like how light and powerfull the laptop is. Speed wise its close to my AMD 3200 64bit desktop, without the graphics card. my desktop also has 1GB of memory which prob puts it ahead. I need to get some more for the laptop. Dell was too expensive. The screen is CRISP really crisp. I compared it it to my CRT and my bosses compaq laptop. The briteness and clearlity is the best! I setup my wireless network and had no trouble, even enabled WPA and no i dont broadcast my SSID. Keyboard hasnt really bothered me too much, I never really have a problem adjusting to keyboards. it is smaller and i have missed a couple keys, but thats expected.. The only thing i do have to complain about is the touch pad mouse butons, they do feel cheap. Other than that I have really done much testing.. I havnt reinstalled yet, havnt let the batterey run out yet.. I just cleaned up the xphome install a lil bit and removed alot of crap.. Been kinda playing.. I plan to get my 7200rpm hd and install xp pro. so this xp home is made for me tweak and see what does what then run a nice clean install I will prob wait till next week to order the hd/memory. o yah the audio is nothing special, but its laptop sound, i wasnt expecting it to be all that..

Full Review to come after a couple weeks of playing with this thing

why does broadasting your ssid matter?

>Who cares. He probably meant he dont use an open connection for any joe to drive by and connect.

Thanks for the mini review mhx, I'm sure theres people in the market who appreciate it.

If I asked the question, then that would mean I care. If you don't, then don't reply.

Anyway - I asked the question to see if there was some security issue with showing your ssid that I was unaware of. Having an open connection is a seperate issue, which is why I asked.

its a security issue, makes it easier for hackers to use your network or sniff your data

Hi,

When you say you will upgrade the memory, I see you have 2 x 256MB. This is what I have just ordered too.

I believe there are only 2 slots so to upgrade, will you sell one or both of the 256MB and replace them?

Cheers Chook

I'm sure that he means replacing at least one or both of those 256mb sticks with either a 512mb one, or a 1gb one.

You able to play any decent games on this? I'm not expecting Doom3 or HL2, but i wouldn't mind some SIMPLE gaming capability.

yeah, if people can't see your network, then they don't know it is there. that's the security piece to your answer. it's just one layer of security for your wireless network.
