Does anyone know of one that will work? I am going on a trip and could use
the extra juice. If anyone knows of one give me a link. Thanks

i believe beebster concluded that with the external battery pads you would only get another 2 hours or so just as much as you get with the primary battery, which is MUCH cheaper than the 400 dollar external battery... i think ur best bet would be to buy another 8886 primary battery. That's wut I'd do.

I found this external battery that would plug into my car adapter for $179:

On the above battery this could provide up to 8 hours with my internal battery. I don't see why this wouldn't work, beside the cable mess!

Just be careful if using an aftermarket battery/DC power supply. Monitor your system carefully that it's not getting extra hot. It will if the battery isn't supplying enough current.
That's the main reason we don't have an approved power pad for the Sager(yet), and also why we don't offer the Airline plug adapter. There are no planes even in 1st class that offer the power required for the Intel P4 processors Sager and others use.

The link for that battery led to the main page, but if I was looking at the battery you were talking about, then I have a huge list of problems with it you may want to consider... First, it is a nickel metal hydride battery, which is why it's cheaper... Those types of batteries are the old model and they have memory (unlike Li ion). Also, it says UP TO 8 hours of time... that's with one of those fujitsu things that are as thick as just the screen of the 8886, lol... the 8886 uses 120 watts of power... the standard desktop replacement mobile processor computer uses about 65 watts... The little guys use a lot less. This battery provides 84 watt hours... You would be lucky to get an extra hour out of it on the 8886... 2 on an inspiron 8200, and then 8 on the tiny ultra mobile "I have no optical drives and a 900Mhz PIIIm processor". In other words... those things aren't meant for the big beefy 8886s... If I'm wrong someone please correct me. Hope that helps though!

What Auto invertor do you consider good enough for the 8886?

Is this god enough:-

From the looks that should be fine. 2.5A is what the AC power adapter is rated at and 300W will easily take care of the wattage.

Am I seeing this right? You plug the inverter into that battery as it if was a car battery, then you plug the Sager power cord into the outlet on the inverter and you get 8 hours of power? I hope I'm not seeing it right, it does not seem feasable at all, you are transforming things a zillion times from a tiny original power source... Lol, someone help me see it correctly...

They do sell external batteries that add a lot of time, like 8 hours, but are they powerful enough for a Sager?

looks almost too good to be true.

I know I'm being repetative... but it's UP TO 8 hours... lol. Plugging an 8886 into that thing is like plugging a desktop into it... it's not like those tiny fujitsus, lol.

If anyone does get one, please let us know how it goes...!
