I know they used a different chassis for the 5670/M:550, becuse their design eliminated the modular properties of the modular optical bays - they had a fixed floppy drive in the front bay that was *not* swappable for an optical drive or second battery like everyone else's version of the same machine.

If you compare detailed images of the M:550 with the 5670, you'll notice the touchpad and Audio DJ controls are different, and the speakers on the Sager (right below the screen, either end) are clearly mounted elsewhere on the Voodoo. But if you compared the specs and options of the two machines, it was clear they were identical.

I don't know about the M:600 and M:700, I haven't gotten good enough looks at them to judge.

Looks like they dropped the M:550.. Looks like the speakers are in the same location but it definately is a different chassis/cover though..

I believe 2 different chassis is on clevo's website somewhere so it's not something custom made. Actually, I've seen it on another laptop reseller in a pc mag before.

Does anyone have any idea what colors will be offered by PC Torque?
The service has not officially been announced by PCTorque yet, however Adam indicated earlier in this thread that virtually any color can be created.

Kewl... Cant wait

I don't know, I read that post and it seemed a little sarcastic to me... Perhaps I'm wrong, but just don't get your hopes up. Every color? That sounds a little improbable....
yea thats what i thought thats why i asked what colors PCTorque would be offering to see if someone had any real idea.

Any idea on how the paint is applied onto the notebook and the paint's durability?

Adam did say that he could probably match about any color -- you could get it to match your car, for example....

No that wasn't sarcasm.

Don't worry, colors will be offered... MANY colors will be offered along with the full sager warranty. Next month.

We will be able to perfectly paint match anything with the best quality Sikkens paint and prep. We will probably even offer paint matching from samples sent in if the customer chooses.

Kewl glad to hear it

Since the paint option is no longer a rumor, how much additional time will be added to an order for the 8890?

From receiving the order to painting the case to assembling the parts to testing to shipping....

First we have to get the units in for painting which hopefully we can do within a couple weeks of the release starting to ship (depends on the stock Sager has). Once we get them in and going, the turn around time should be under 2 weeks from the order to it shipping out. We don't expect them to begin shipping painted until at earliest the end of Aug...

Any price estimates on painting yet , or will that not be known till closer to the time the paint jobs are offered?

I would be interested in knowing how the paint is applied to the notebook. How many paint layers? Will there be a protective clear coat? Etc...

Hey real quick, back to the part about losing the cool wristgaurd cusomizations, what if you just said "hey can you take off the wrist gaurd to pait it so it stays clear?" Then, well yeah that should work. And if they're painting older sagers as well, then just send it in without the wristgaurd and there you go.
Yes, the wristguard can easily be left unpainted. It has a very slight blue tint to it though and some colors it may look funny on.
