Ok now I am in LInux and cant check the options myself but you do it and lemme know whats going on :-

Display Properties...advanced...one of the tabs has an option for "stretch images to fit display" or something like that. Make sure this is checked.

See if this works.

Also - I think the Omega drivers are at fault here...if the above suggestion doesnt work - go directly to ati's website and download the latest drivers.

Cheers!

or clean ur harddrive, reformat it, reinstall ur OS, reinstall your sager driver one by one.
between each driver, run your sager, so u will know what driver doesnt work properly for the bad hardware. it seem you have a hardware problem somewhere.

do a dxdiag first, so I will compare with my system...

There is an issue with the latest omegas. It will only let you run up to 1400x1050 on a lot of machines (including mine). And you can't install ATI Catalyst drivers straight onto a laptop, certain files have to be modded first. www.driverheaven.net/patje/ will do this for you. If you have problems with a video driver all you have to do is boot into safe mode to uninstall them. No need to reformat.

My suggestion, try the new cat betas using the above mod or wait for the omegas. They should be out soon.

And you might try running Farcry in non-stretched mode. Let it run in a window, it won't be full-screen but it will look better.

TRy this on for size. I was getting tearing when running dawn of war. I went to the bios, set it to max performance, i went to the display control panel and set the opengL and direct3d to max performance (not quality) and jumped around 60-80 points on 3dmark 05 and had Dawn of War running smooth as butter. Far Cry demo looks pretty damn good too. The game that has my machine hurting is Medal of Honor - Pac Assault but to be fair, i only run the games on 1152 x 864 with everything maxed so it may be better when i turn it down.

good luck

Sorry Man - but I gotta go with the forum on this one. YOu did come in here with a chip on your shoulder and it showed.

Let's just hope it work the second time around.

This may be a stupid question - but doesn't it clearly say on the ATI site not to use ATI drivers for the mobile 9700 and to only use the ones provided by the manufacturer or was I the only one that saw that.
That might explain all the crap people are going through with the omegas and catalysts and what not.

Yeagh, ok LOL

I think its ok if i got pissy once or twice when i was in the middle of what seemed like an impossible tribulation when a few people were being useless. Like, if i seriously need help, i dont need my time wasted. I can point it out, and i can get a little irritated too.

In the end, the solution was a new laptop and a return of the old one. I was very nice to those who offerred actual help, and to the one guy who helped me the most by chance.

anyway, enough whining about me not being nice, lets keep this thread dedicated to what its for - resolving issues related to gaming and video outout on a 3790.

I have a new one coming so mostly the reason this thread was started is gone, but others might need the relevant posts here and i too might need some help when the new arrives. We shall see, but keep your posts coming, and leave you whining to another thread - i dont care and neither does anyone who is scanning through this looking ofr HELP (not drama)

As alwasy, thanx to those of you who are actually issuing help and experience! To rest of you, i dunno, go j/o or something lol
