Can you give a better description of what happens when you try to play Doom3? In general, whatever you see on your notebook's LCD screen should be the exact same as on the projector screen...

So let's say you see your desktop on the projector screen, you should be able to start and run Doom 3 that way.. I need more information on the steps you take and what happens.. I would love to try and help you, as I've frequently run my old notebook and xbox through a projector and have had no problems.

On my Dell Insp 8600 I have the option to use and external monitor, so I select that and then I can see my desktop on my laptop screen and also on the external monitor, but say if i open my email program i can then move it off the laptop screen to the external screen, so i is no longer showing on the lappy screen....but if i play a game it will not let me (that i can see) display it on the external screen

from what you just said, I think you need to change the projector from extended desktop to duplicate (something like that).

ok, mmelzer is right. The video cards on the inspiron 8600 support multi (2) display. Both the Nvidia and the ATi cards support this. What you're doing is using the multi-display options to play your games and watch movies.

You have two choices. You can either using the single display option and have that video feed go out to your projector (which is what I did with my older notebook).
Or you can do as mmelzer says and choose the Simulscan option instead of the extended option. The simulscan basically enables you to view the same thing on two different monitors, in this case, your LCD and your external.

hope this helped!

This is where it's beyond my knowledge. What I posted before was what I managed to gather from Dell.com in the i8600 graphics cards section. Sorry! Let's hope someone with an 8600 is able to give you more detailed info.
