I tried about 10 original movies, all were clean and relatively scratch free, all would play fine in another computer and home dvd player.

3 movies(Disney discs) would play but only after ejecting once and reloading (The first time i load the activity LED blinks and then stays on, My Computer reports no disc in drive. Those 3 discs always read fine after ejecting and reloading once).

1 movie was able to play after about a dozen eject and reload (when it does not work activity LED blinks and then shut off, My Computer reports no disc in drive).

Other 6 movies(including one Disney disc) will play on the first try without having to eject and reload.

Blank media results :

No name dvd-r, no name dvd+r and Princo dvd-r : Some will take 1 or more eject and reload the be recognized, other won't be recognized no matter how many eject-reload cycles i try. Out of those that were recognized i had a very low success rate when burning (20-30%). Out of those that were successfully burned, 50% were choppy, glitchy and erratic when i tried to read them after burning (both movie backups and data discs)

Verbatim DVD-RW works fine so far.

Since i have no problem with the more expensive Verbatim blank media i would think that the drive is just extremely picky(if that is the case i must say that this drive suck big time).

The problems with original movies makes me believe that i got a lemon.
I asked for cross shipping of a replacement drive but the service center is out of stock for that model.

Hopefully i won't have the same problems with the replacement.

Could the eject-reload glitch be a software problem?
Anybody experienced something similar or could suggest a fix?

Cheers
