Cheating on xbox live?

This does actually involve computers, so bear with me.

I was recently playing on xbox live with my friends, and we ended up doing a team skirmish on headlong playing land grab. It started out ok as we made our way to some of the plots. But as we started to encounter the other team a few things became really weird. First, they were hauling ass! They seemed to be moving a bit faster then us. Seconding, I totally got the drop on one guy and long story short I got 4 point blank shots on him with the shotgun. His shield went down on the fourth shot, he laughed and pulled out a sword and lunged me. Of course I died and initially I chalked it up to lag, but I had a green connection throughout the entire match and my teammated made alot of complaints about close to the same thing. It became fairly obvious something wasn't right when they started out right laughing at us as they took massive amounts of fire and only one died, because he took 2 hits from a rocket launcher. I used to play rainbow six 3 alot and I know they had game shark for that. It caused massive chaos because of all the stupid cheats that could be used online, and they finallly made an anti-cheat system that could detect if you were using game shark and ban you.

I know that game shark basically (put in laymens terms) hacked the game and saved the changes that you wanted to make to the hard drive. I'm also sure that they've already installed the anti cheat system in halo 2 (atleast I hope so). But it is also obvious that these guys weren't playing fair. If it would've been just me, I would've chalked it up to my lack of skill, but I got some relaly good friends, level ten was achieved on the first night type of guys. We were all convinced they were cheating, but how? Wouldn't microsoft detect this? Has anyone else experienced this? I know you required a computer to hack it, has anyone tried this before just for the fun of it?

You have to report it to Microsoft so they can review the game session in question or so I have heard.

EDIT: oops thaks Darth

No matter what anyone says or advertises, there will always be cheating.

I stopped playing CS 1.5 because of all the hacks and recently started up CS CZ. Sure enough on the first server, there was one guy with an insane record (95-4) with aimbot and speed hack.

I even think that eventually people will start duping items on the WOW servers like they did in D2. It's an inevitable part of playing online.

monkeyboy cheating in online gaming will always exist. Cheaters will always outsmart the anti-cheating like Punkbuster. Some cheaters are so smart that they can go undetected in ladders too. So many games are ruined by cheaters.

Are you speaking of a herd of sheep? I once heard of a herd of nerds who spoke really naughty words.

Yeah, I'm starting to believe that too. It is very annoying when people will got out of their way just to get better at a game! I like to play, and if I get screwed like that I get aggrevated. But how used to winning do you have to be to cheat?

Yeah CS stands out when it comes to cheating. I prefer to play Tribes Vengeance, where even if people cheat, it doesn't matter since it's a team based game. I mean, Tribes already gives you a jet pack, grappling hook, and plenty of explosive weaponry, it's insanely fast and fun already and cheaters actually don't matter since it takes the team to win (unlike CS). Also- my golden example of how multiplayer games should work- Tribes 1. NO CHEATS ARE EVEN POSSIBLE!!! How? Simple! Server side rules- every game you join, you download the config files that reset the rules to exactly what the server tells it too (also allowing you to join any server running ANY mod period). CS and most other games are client side, meaning the person running the game can alter the files because they aren't downloaded and overwritten every time you join a server. It's unbelievable that there are cheats for modern games...nobody seemed to be able to learn from Tribes 1- if the server uploads all the files containing rules, then you can't cheat- anything you change before hand gets overwritten. Ugh, I'm getting all worked up again.

Yea I like multiplayer games which requires teamwork and tacticts over individual skills. This means that a cheater in a team won't be able to win, because teamwork and tacticts are important. (most cheaters just like to go out and get the kills)

I dont cheat, but I LOVE playing Project Gotham 2 online and being "annoying" sometimes when I find a room with a bunch of "pro" racers. you know the kind...they think they are the reason racing was invented, and if you accidently bump their car they scream and swear at you...

Nothing wrong with giving someone a nudge. They do it in NASCAR all the time...

Jeebus, I couldn't stop making fun of anyone who cares that much about a game.

I know exactly what you are talking about in PG2 but I do get mad if someone flat out takes me out when I am up in first but if I am back in the pack I don’t care if it gets a little ruff. BTW my rank is 23 what is yours.

Happened to me tonight I meant this morning or maybe last night I don’t know one big blur. Back to my point I was playing CTF on coagulation BTB and was guarding the flag thin bam BSOD “not really a BSOD” but when the game came back into play our flag was gone and 2 "maybe like 10" seconds later they scored. My whole team was like WTF. Next round when we were on the offence my team mate got the flag we were covering him thin another BSOD and when the game came back into play the guy with the flag was dead and there was some guy with the rocket launcher and shotgun killing me that same guy was the guy who scored in the first round. His screen name was I8ACAT or something like that.
