Yes every game can be cheated with enough effort. There is one advantage to mmorpg style (ie wow) maintained servers in that they will normally have monitoring tools that pick up a lot of things automatically, and some some staff that investigates reports of suspicious activity.
So yes people cheat, but if they do it much they can be banned losing the money and time put into their account.
