Ambigram for my Sager

Hi,

In an exchage of private messages with bgesley, I came up with an idea for a design I would like to see on my laptop. It would be an 180 degree rotation ambigram of "Sager" or "Sager rules". For those of you who do not know what an ambigram is check out:

http://www.geocities.com/rcm_ca/ambi/
http://www2.iap.fr/users/esposito/ambigallery.html
http://www.scottkim.com/inversions/
http://www.johnlangdon.net/

This way, when you look at the notebook before opening it you see "Sager" or "Sager rules", and when it is open and people are seeing it from the back they see the same thing. I have started to take a stab at creating these, but with my skills it is going to take a long time. I challenge you to embarass me to the point where I give up without a fight

Hey, if you come up with one maybe we could all get together to produce it in a raised rubber sticker form for all of us in the forums?
I think it would be a cool way of showing we like sagers.

Hi,

Here is a draft of an ambigram for Sager

I am not a graphic artist, so I am asking for a volunteer to complete the design. My original design is in the public domain.

Hey, thats really good

Ok, I took that image into GIMP and used a calligraphy brush to mess around with it.

Here's the result:

It's not terribly straight mostly because I don't have a very steady hand. The XCFs are in the same directory.

that is cool idea. I would put a sticker on my laptop like that fo shizzle.

Nice redo of original, be cool to have it made into like the raised rubber decals that AMD uses.

Yeah f we could get that made professionally into either a nice decal or even better a raised rubber decal i would defiently put that on my 5680.

Someone should try making a stencil and painting it onto the lid. That would be cool too...

Right Infinity, I know what you mean about the badges. I work for a company thats sells tractors and on certain makes they have that same type of material though. And some of the decals are 12' long by 3.5' high lettering.
Anyway, there still would be the issue of copyrights, etc. with Sagers name. I'm sure nobody wants to go through a legal battle
with the eception of gr8gatzby maybe. Just KIDDING!

I think the copyright issue/trademark issue since the ambigram is definately different from the way they have it, but I assume someone could email sager and get their ok/thoughts on it if worried...

Hi,

I did not say that my original design was for Sager Midern. It could just as well be for a couple of people I know with the last name of Sager or it could be for the membership of the System Administrators Guild (SAGE).

My understanding of copyright and trademark law, is that we have no problems using the design I posted for decorating our laptops. The design is in the public domain and therefore cannot be copyrighted or registered as a trademark. If someone were to make changes to the design, they could copyright the changes. I have no idea what the law is on deriving a trademark from a public domain design.

I am still failing to come up with an ambigram for "Sager Rules". Best so far is all in lower case cursive script, but I only have the "r" sketched. The rest I am kind of stumped on for now.

Ambigram for Sager

Hi Folks, this Ambigram thing got stuck in my psyche and eventual something got spit out. I think its pretty good but the real test is the community's opinion. Take a look and spout. There are three versions, all black and white. Not sure about color, that would depend on background. Certainly if anyone likes it, I can email you the jpg. Just remember its for personal use only. Just send me a PM.

This is the double line version.

This is the filled version.

This is the single line version.
And, yes, it does read the same either way, right or 180 degrees or facing you and with the lid up, facing someone across the way.

My preference would probably be either gold on black or a dark back ground or black chrome/matte black.

Love those bananas

Awesome! Even better than I expected. I like the middle (filled) one the best.
yeah thats the best 1 ive seen so far..
WOW i love the look of that. I really hope someone is willing to get that done professionally done or just come up with a good way for the user to put it on....maybe with contact paper? And i also think the middle one is the best.

Wow, that's art man. I have a hard time deciding which one I like the most. Just awesome. Thanks
