Also 17" like a 9200 but with a similar chassis to the 8600/9100. Just something being talked about by some employees, should be interesting.

i highly doubt it. the design of 8600 is old design. They're already replacing 600m with 700m and 9100 with 9200. I would expect that they'd release similar design for 8700 to replace 8600. Same for XPS like XPS Gen2. Same idea as they did for dimension XPS. Gen 2 then Gen 3, etc. I am sure that the new 8700 would have pci express along with ddr2 and so on.

Measel I think your wrong about the I 8600 being old, I have a dothan 755 chip Intel M, 2.0GHz, 80 GB HD, 1 GB RAM and a WUGA screen 1920 x 1200 which the 9200 doesn't even have a upgrade for. My father told me never to buy a first year product I did when I bought the 8500, which went and Dell sent me a I 8600 C refurshed as a replacement only they added a c model the latest they had in the I 6500 winning design.
Measel you still buy the name Corvette if you have the capital, in my teen years the 1965 Sting Ray cost $5,700. I had bought a 1965 Mustang for $2,860. If you knew either of these models you would still buy them as they performed great, I had a NOS(Nitrous Oxide System) I installed with chromally pistons to handle the heat generated, way before "The Fast and the Furious" movie was released.
She real fine my 409, 1962 engined Impala, my first car a 'Christine' 1957 Plymouth Belvidere blue that did 112 M.P.H. on the straightaways.

I am not talking about the specs inside the laptop. i am talking about casing design. Look at 9200 and 9100. They look totally different. 9200 is full of silver/white stuff with black bottom while 9100 has planted casing with black bottom like XPS has. Same thing goes for 700m and 600m. Same idea as 8500 and 8200. 8200 is full of black parts while 8500 is painted grey stuffs. Beside what you said about specs not available to 9200, They're available online configuration.. Check again. ;-) Plus I consider 8600 old because it been around for over a year..... in tech ages, it's 6 years old.
