Desktop P4 vs. P4M & P-M

Hello all...just out of curiousity is there that much of a difference in performance? I am mainly concerned with regards to hardcore gaming. The reason I ask is that I am debating on what new laptop to buy and I love the new AW Area-51M and have been looking at Sager's 8890 & 5680 but the battery times on these things are probably going to be pathetic (I hope I am soooo wrong). On the other hand, I read all these reviews about lappies like the dell inspiron 8500 having amazing performance for gaming (I know it has a thousand other probs, but I am talking about performance) and the battery life is a decent 2.5 to 3 hours. Let me qualify by stating that when I talk about battery life the ONLY two things I am concerned about are 1) Wireless internet use and 2)Playiing Movies...otherwise for gaming I will be plugged in...sorry about the long post but I am just confused as to what to shop for a desktop Pentium or a mobile version...any input would be greatly appreciated.

PS: sorry for the long post...

For what you are going to be using the computer for, a pentium-M will be just fine. You aren't going to need a full fledged desktop processor since you aren't running powerful software like photoshop or 3dsmax. Most important for you will be the graphics card. Although the 5600FX is a good chip, you may want to wait for the 9600pro. By the time that one comes out, the new pentium-M at 2GHz will be out. I'd wait for an october purchase if you can wait. If you can't, a pentium-M with either a 9000 or 5600fx will be plenty of power for your games. No use in overkill with a P4 and plus, you'll never know when you'll need the battery life of a centrino, it'll come in handy.
