Because the licensing agreement says that you should.

Because you are breaking the law.

Because ethically this is the same as shoplifting at Sears, it's just much easier and less risky.

Risp,

I got the 6-cell since she will primarily be kept at home and only rarely taken on campus or on trips. Even while at school there is always an outlet near-by. The 5 hours is most definately with the 9-cell. If you need battery life definately upgrade to the 9-cell.

With full-brightness and wi-fi/bluetooth on, windows is telling me i have slightly longer than 2:30 or so. With a couple of clicks down 3+ hrs shouldn't be too hard.

The PC Mag review actually said the 9200 had a 12 cell battery...Which...Wasn't available. I think 9-cell will probably last about 4 hours.

What are you talking about? I have a legit MSDN copy (volume license) through my university. Don't assume things. Also, please post a link to this licensing agreement that states that I can't install whatever OS I want on my own PC, because I've never heard of that before.

I think if you don't use the stuff in Pro, don't install it. I stick with Home and i'm perfectly fine.

the PRO word gets everyone worked up going OMG i gotta be PRO!!!!!!!

The funny thing is, I do use features exclusive to XP Pro. The ones I use the most are Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services), logging into a domain, access control, roaming user profiles, Remote Installation Service, and Administrative Tools (can't belive XP Home doesn't have this) to name a few.

Before anyone says that XP Home has Remote Desktop Connection, it doesn't; it has the client software to connect to an RDC server. I know I probably won't be using my laptop as a server to serve an RDC connection too often, but that doesn't take away from the fact that I use all the other features (and need to use most of them). I'm not trying to convince anyone that XP Pro is better, I'm just saying it's perfect for my needs.

Have you noticed any haziness that's been reported with the screens of the 9200, like in the other thread http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=52484 ?

I'm really wanting to get one of these, but I do alot of graphics work, so the screen quality is of the upmost imporantancy.

Yes I have noticed the same "sparkle" effect. I will likely be returning the unit.
