Problem keeping the 3790 running at 600 mhz?

I'm running into an issue recently where my laptop locks itself at 1.7Ghz on its own, even though the power settings are all set to Max Battery. I have to set it back to dynamic switching, then back to Max Battery to get it to change back...then later it will revert back to 1.7Ghz.

I'm using speedswitch. Is this the problem? Has anyone else run into this? I've got SP2 and everything else, and it never used to do this until recently.

Thanks for the help.

It probably IS the speedswitch. There are settting in that piece of software that would allow the processor to run at specific speeds at different times. I just let the built-in speedstep do its thing. It runs quite well except for one situation when I was trying to play a MPEG movie from a CD Rom and it kept on playing choppy. Not sure why it would do that and the processor never went above 599 Mhz. I copied the movie files to the HD and everything was fine. Probably a problem with the CD-Rom rather than the prcessor.

Sorry... little tangent there. I would check the settings for SpeedSwitch, definately. Your problem is there.
