Just trying to figure out how common this is: my fans come on briefly during startup (expected), then come on, and remain on after a minute or two (they don't shut off at all) til I shut down.
I have my 5660 on a hard surface with a raised edge which raises the notebook about 3/4" for unimpeded air for the cooling fans. If I were to leave my hand in proximity to the left side vent, my hand would get burned...my wireless card in the PCMCA slot is very hot to the touch. The air coming out of the vent on the left is very similar in heat to a hair dryer, tho' of course at a lower air flow rate.
I can't tell if the little fan there (beneath the PCMCA slot) is running or not---is it pretty obvious or just a subtle flow there? It won't raise a little wisp of cotton...should it?
I should mention that the fans always run whether I'm writing an email, browsing a web page or doing big graphix (except then they run harder/faster/louder). I will call Sager about this but want some comparison data. I'd like to hear how your fans behave. Thanks!
trueblue
PS: oh yeah, my keyboard is very warm all the time!
