the 802.11g is finalized, and has been for a few weeks. Just about every draft 802.11g product either has or will have a firmware update to the finalized spec., and i know of no "orphaned" products, at least at this point, though I have by no means conducted a survey.
Be careful if you are mixing and matching g products with b products. I have read a few articles that indicate g performance can drop if you are using b products as well.
Also, it's not necessarily the brand name on the outside of the product that is important to pay attention to, but the brand name on the INSIDE of the product. You very well may purchase a Linksys router, but the guts were manufactured by Broadcom, for example (which is currently used in several Linksys and Buffalotech products), or some other manufacturer.
