Can you iron clothes with your power brick?

I ask because last night my power brick became so hot it started smelling like an iron thats been left on too long, to the point where I was worried something inside had burned out. It was way too hot to touch for at least 10 minutes after unplugging it, but it seems to still be working fine. Is this typical of these bricks or might there be something wrong with mine? I knew it would get hot but I didnt expect to be able to cook food on it.

Though I do not have a 9860 power brick, I'm sure the 5690 brick is just like it. It does get very hot after an hour or so when playing games. I reccomend putting it on something where air could get it everywhere, on the bottom too. Also maybe even a fan blow on it.

Mine is roasting also... appears to be normal.

Most of my power adapters (phone, monitor, speakers) are all quite warm... But as long as that heat is on the floor and not in my laptop, I'm fine.

However if it smells like it is burning and is too hot to hold, RMA or get ready for the house to burn down.

Yeap mine gets nice and hot.

However my wife really enjoys it and has adopted it as her new foot warmer.

Probably sauteeing some dust on there. Also, running an intensive app while charging the battery (as opposed to when the battery is already full) will increase the power draw and heat it up more than usual.

Makes a nice hand-warmer in winter , although mine usually doesn't get too hot to touch - probably because I'm in an air-conditioned office.

Personally, I would not risk it with a laptop that you probably spent more than $3000 on, if it smells like it is burning, I would get it checcked out, the one for my 5670 never smells
