External Hard drive

Does anyone know a good deal on external hard drive for a laptop? Preferably under $150.

Check newegg. They usually have good deals on desktop harddrives, and you can also buy a casing for it. Shouldn't be too expensive. Probably less than the $150 you want to spend.

You can always buy this

with this:

or this:

Much less than $150. If you don't mind having the huge 5.25" enclosure/drive, then the sky is the limit for storage capacity...

well I want at least 100 gig? Are they cheap with that much storage?

I got a 250 gig from fry's for $70 after rebate, and picked up a nice Venus DS3 for ~$50 from zipzoomfly.com It has FW and USB 2.0 and oxford chipset. And it's black aluminum.

I'd also check Ebay........
My cousin was just looking for one and bought one on ebay, I think 200 gigs at 7200RPM for 130$ after shipping

200 gig. wow I gotta check it out!

Sasuke, the things I show you were for 2.5" (notebook size) and 3.5" hard drives. I'm sure you can always get a bigger, gigantic 5.25" hard drive newegg has them, too. Remember that 5.25" HDs are cheaper...

200gb Maxtor 7200 rpm hard drive - 3 year warranty: $116

You can buy a good Firewire/USB external enclosure from them and you will still be under $150. I wouldn't recommend e-bay...

why would you not recommend EBAY?

the possibility of being scammed is probably what he's talking about.

yes, exactly. I pay to avoid problems. The unavoidable ones are already too much...

I have this one

It has the one touch backup. What I like about it is the fact that you can hook up USB2 and Firewire both at the same time. It benchmarks considerably faster than my internal 7200 60gb.

edit 1 -
They also have a media center version, if you are in the market for an 8-1 card reader
