As i promised to beebster, here are the benchmarks of the hds (A friend of mine who works as a system builder finally lent me the software)
Ok, i got 2 Hard drives, 1 40gb 5400 and the other 60gb 4200, both toshibas.
According to Hd Tach, the results were:
1: 5400/40b toshiba (MK4019GA):
Random Access Time (Milliseconds) 17.7ms
Read Burst Speed (Megabytes per second) 78.5 mb/s
Read Speed - Maximum 28040kps, minimum 8745kps, average 22741kps.
2: 4200/60GB toshiba (MK6021GA):
Random Access Time (Milliseconds) 22.8ms
Read Burst Speed (Megabytes per second) 78.8 mb/s
Read Speed - Maximum 25713kps, minimum 8694kps, average 19725.8kps.
Both benchmarks were ran with no other disk utilizing program, and the average cpu utilization was 5%. Of course, this is a with a large system cache, and pagefile enabled, so this may degrade manufacturers perfomance a little, as with all hd's.
Hope this helps deciding, the 40 gb 5400 is just a little faster than the 60gb, but the difference is little enought to make you opt for the 60gb.
Darn, if i had known this i would have ordered it with both 60gb disks
