My cable dongle that came with the 8790 with a male svideo plug on one end and RCA cables and s-video on the other worked fine until after about a month of inactivity. I fired it up in the exact same setup and the picture was fine but in black in white, I was using the same cables I had before and tried different ones and they did not work, I use the Svideo out to the video portion of the RCA end (blue). When I hooked up a different Svideo cable form the laptop to the dongle and adjusted it I could get color but a very unclear picture. I also know that the Svideo output works because I used SVideo out to the Svideo input of the TV Tuner and it worked fine in color and clear. What can I do to fix the dongle or should I just buy a new one from e-bay? Also do you think that this would be covered under the warranty? I allready have to send the laptop back in becuase of the ethernet card failure.
