Acer or iBuyPower

Thread Starter
I need some advice, I'm stuck deciding between two. the Acer TravelMate 3201XCi and the iBuyPower E-Turbo[1] series. Here are the specs:

3201XCi
CPU: Pentium M Processor 715 1.50GHz

Memory: 512MB
Graphics: ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700(64MB)
HD: 60GB
Optical Drive: DVD/CD-RW
Communication: 802.11b/g WLAN, Gigabit LAN, V.92 modem
Ports: 2 x USB2.0, VGA, IEEE 1394, FIR, Audio Ports, PC Card slot, 3-in-1 card reader
Average Battery Life: 4 hours
Price: $1,429.00

E-Turbo
CPU: Pentium M Processor 735 1.7GHz
Display: 15.0" SXGA+ 1400x1050
OS: preformatted HD only
Memory: 512MB
Graphics: ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700(128MB)
HD: 60GB
Optical Drive: DVD/CD-RW
Communication: 802.11b/g WLAN, 10/100 LAN
Ports: 3 x USB2.0, IEEE 1394, Audio Ports, PC Card slot, 3-in-1 card reader
Average Battery Life: 5 hours
Price : $1,439.00

Obviously the iBuypower machine outdoes the acer in numbers (aka faster processor, video memory, screen, battery life), but i've heard bad things about ibuypower and the acer is available through newegg, which I love. I'm not very concerned about the extra features the ibuypower has, but they'd be great as long as their customer service/shipping/etc were on par with newegg. So does anyone have either of these? any advice?

(I was previosuly looking at the acer 4502wlmi, but newegg, mwave, and cdw stopped carrying it. So I assumed it was discontinued)

Thanks

the acer is the safest bet in terms of quality and service. ibuypower is a crap shoot with quality and service from what i've heard. It also depends on what you plan on using this laptop for, if it's just for every day use, i'd definatly go with the acer. If you're planning on gaming, the ibuypower has a definate edge.

i got very good service from ibuypower. they were a little slow to ship, but now i am hearing they ship out faster. although the service isn't "GREAT" it is pretty good. beats Compaq 10 times over (ie...when i called up paq, 1 hour on hold, 1 hour of transfers between departments, 5 minutes of talk, still no solution, with ibp...calll 4 rings later somebody picks up, 10 minutes or less later i have my answeres, just that easy).

From my experience, tech support experiences are mostly dependant upon the users knowledge. For example, I hate Dells tech support because I know how easy it is to fix things that they give me a hard time about, yet other people like it. I like HP/Compaq's tech support because they usually are co-operative. I would go with the Acer because I know their products, but I wouldn't get rid of I buy power because of other poeple's experiences. Give them a call, try to call tech support or a division that is not obviously trained to be courtious (sales) and check to see if they are competant. If you find them acceptable, buy from them.

i'm pretty sure ibuypower notebook is just the CL56 (chembook 2056) so there are many other places to buy it.

I normally do not "yell" things online, but I feel the need here...

Once and for all, DO NOT BUY FROM IBUYPOWER - THEY ARE NOT A REPUTABLE/HONEST RESELLER
