Firewire query

I am about to purchase a Satellite M30 1.6ghz,60gigHD,15.4"screen etc etc
Now this laptop has a fire wire port....is it going to be 6 pin or 4 pin????
What is the difference........i want to buy a firewire soundcard.......and it is 6 pin........will it work on my laptop if i have a 4 pin port on the laptop.

Get a pcmcia soundcard instead.

My BB M35 has a 4 pin firewire port. I bought a 4 pin to 6 pin firewire cable and ran an external dvd burner off it with no problem, so I wouldn't foresee a problem using your chosen sound card. On the off chance that you do run into problems though, make sure the store has a good return policy.
