i9200 Owners/Orderers Help

Hi guys

I was just wondering if you could help me out with something. Basically, my i9200 keeps getting delayed, havin been stuck 'in production' for over a week with the delivery date continually slipping from December 1st, to 2nd, 3rd, 6th and today the 7th.

Anyway, according to Dell it's all down to parts, as they told me all i9200 units have been affected, not just mine, and none are shipping at the moment. So, if you ordered an i9200 on or after November 21st, and have received it or it's got past the production stage, could you please reply to this thread just to see if what Dell is saying is accurate.

Thanks for your time

I ordered mine on the 22nd (late in the day at that) and it is on a truck headed to me as we speak. Is yours a WUXGA?

I ordered the 22, and it still is "in production", I think that is because the pentium m 755

i ordered mine 1.7 / WUXGA /DVD Writer.... on 24 November in UK.
Today they told me that the problem is that they don't have in stock DVD Writers and that is why the delivery will be on 13-14.12

Hi guys

Thanks for the replies. I've prodded Dell's UK 'Issue Resolution Expert' again today so fingers crossed he'll be able to tell me something more constructive.

As for the specs of the system, I actually kept it fairly standard to keep the cost down, WXGA+ screen, Pentium M 1.6, DVD/CD-RW etc. so it's not like it needs any particularly high-end parts.

Sadly Dell's tracking system seems to be acting a little bizarrely in the UK too. It has been down for parts of yesterday and today and when back up the estimated shipping date has changed literally every few minutes from 6th to the 8th, then 9th, then 8th again ...

All I want is my i9200 ... hehe

I'll let you know if anything happens.

Thanks again

Could you pls give me the number you called. i called 0870 9060010 (Customer Care) and they are useless. i need to talk to somebody who knows what is going on. I call them 2 times a day just to hear different versions. at some point it is funny, but sometimes ....

Hi

I'm PM you the details I was given. I don't know whether you'll need a customer care case number, as that was something stressed in the email sent from Dell's customer care team, I guess it helps them keep track of individual issues.

Hope things get sorted

Hi guys,

I ordered my 9200 in the UK on the 24/11 I believe. When ever I ring 0870 9060010 I get the automated message saying my laptop is in the 'pre-production stage of the manufacturing process'.

Initially they said it would be delivered on the 6/11, then the 13/11. Today they reckon the 09/11. I'm sure it will continue to slip

I ordered the 7200 rpm drive plus the dvd writer as well. I'm sure thats going to hold it back. As long as it gets here before the christmas hols im happy

Hi DEEN

Sorry to hear that, but glad I'm not the only one. What's quite annoying for me is that, according to Dell, once a system reaches the production stage all the parts are supposed to be available and it's just a matter of assembling and testing everything. Guess not

Still, here's hoping it all gets sorted soon

Good luck

Hi guys

I also ordered my 9200 on 24/11 and its still in 'pre-production'. Estimated delivery date is currently 9/12, though it keeps changing.
I had thought that it was just me who had these problems, however, Im reasured to see that its not just me!

Hey guys,

I ordered my 9200 WUXGA on 11/25 and it went into the "shipped" stage yesterday. It says it should be here by 12/08. So far so good, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Dell never has right estimates... I ordered 2 I9200s and my first one was placed on 11/11 and my second on 11/22 and they both went into production on the same day. I ended up cancelling my 11/11 order, but it seems like its the 1.8 processor on some computers. That's what I was told on my first order.

I order mine (1.8, 1GB) on November 24, and went into production tha same day, but today I check my order status and still is in production.

Hmm strange, every day for the last week since ordering the 9200 DELL have been saying my laptops in the preproduction stage of the manufacturing process. Today apparently its shipped!

Strange how it seemed to miss the production process entirely. Hopefuly I'll have my hands on this within the next few days

Congratulations DEEN Still no change on mine, sadly Although the number of people who have said the order tracking is inaccurate makes me wonder why Dell bother *keeps fingers crossed*

Kind Regards

*sighs* Still no change on my order, and having contacted Dell's customer complains team on two different occassions, both times I've waited days to receive the exact same reply (which merely apologised but didn't offer to resolve any issues). What use is a complaints procedure if your complaints are just dismissed with standard form replies?

I'm now considering cancelling my order and trying to reorder at this rate

Thanks for the info. regarding your 9200 orders, guys.

This sounds like you're using email to get a response to your complaints...which doesn't surprise me that you're getting a standard form email apology from them. You need to call them up and ask to speak with a Supervisor or Manager and explain to them that you're prepared to cancel your order (don't mention the fact that you would be reordering...). I guarantee they'll do something or at least give you a good deal on your system if you complain enough.

I did something similar with Tmobile...they had every right to charge me an early cancellation fee technically (I had a good argument against it though) but I complained enough and they ended up taking it off. The squeaky wheel gets the grease...

I ordered mine on 24.11 from dell UK. i was told different versions for shipment day every time i call them (usually about 13-16.12), but i continued to pressure them calling 2 times a day (at least) and finally i got it dispatched now. it seems like this is the only way to make dell keep their word...
so mine laptop was delayed only 4 days.....
now i have to pray i like the WUXGA display.....
