I was thinking to upgrade: What is best for games? 1 gig or 7k60

Thanks Guys!

This forum is absolutely The Best!

1 gig is definetely better. Sometimes you can get conflicts from having different sized memory SODIMMs inside a computer.

The link works fine for me now, so I suggest that you try again.

Yes, and now it works again. But it was somewhat unstable, cause it killed my connection once, when I tried to download it.

yes, but why not buy it directly from corsair or newegg.com, it is cheaper price and better quality memory

Yes, but I would rather recommend that you upgrade with 512MB Corsair XMS3200 (CMXSD512-3200LL) or 1GB Kingston ValueRAM PC3200 (KVR400X64SC3A/1G) SO-DIMM sticks for the best possible performance.

Hey y'all,

new here and have placed an order for the ferrari 3400 3 days ago now. gonna come in about a week so i am waiting lol. but i have a question regarding the paint job on the new ferrari 3400. i spoke to the acer guys in australia and they told me it was somewhat different to previous ferrari editions in that the paint job is now done by baking it on to the plastic or fibreglass.. whichever it is lol... and it seems to be nice and tough. what are your experiences with this?

I ask because i dont want to scratch my system in anyway as such a shiny surface as is the back panel of the lcd that it will look majorly bad if it did have a scratch and being paint it may form the basis for further deterioration around the scratch in future. I also dont care for ferrari or their patented colour of hooker lipstic red i just dont want my stuff to scratch/break/chip by merely looking at it. I only bought it for the amd64. I am very cautious when it comes to handling with care and am sure i can avoid many bad things that can happoen by carelessness.. but wear and tear will eventually come.

I also asked the acer guy is they coyuld just take out all the components of the ferrari 3400 and place them in the same chasi of the travelmate 8000 because it is exactly the same chasi in size and shape ... but just not the ferrari paintjob (more red gloss than a street hooker lol). alas they said NO but mentioned it may be possible to just buy the back panel of the travelmate 8000 from the spare parts division ($78 Australian) and change it over from my ferrari panel and maybe frame the ferrari one or something and stick it on my wall... or get michael schumacher to sign it and then sell it on ebay to some ferrari nut... perhaps the sale would recover the cost of the machine? yes? no? lol. the travelmate 8000 is a silvery kind of panel... maybe metallic and would be much more durable than paint.

any thoughts or even tips on how to swap over acer notebook lcd panels with zero damage??

cheers guys. ill soon be writing posts with an acer ferrari lol.

thanx snorre.

wow that document looks awful complex for simply changing the lcd panel. It did not provide information on doing that exclusively so i wouldnt want to go through with removing the entire lcd unnecessarily and thus voiding warranty.

hmmm i reckon i will just call the acer tech support guys and ask them how to do it.

but thankyou anyway for the link. I want to get a technician certification some day soon (A+ hardware cert) so that document may come in useful for future reference.

cheers.

(still waiting for my ferrari. 4 out of 10 days passed until delivery).

Hard drive question

Hey everyone, question about the Acer Ferrari 3400 stock 80GB 4200RPM hard drive. I sold it on ebay and the guy who bought said that he's having trouble formatting because there is a partition(ESIS) that he can't delete. Can anyone give me any information regarding this? Thanks
post #95 of 169
He shouldn't experience any problems formatting the drive, so I recommend that you tell him to read this for how to do it properly:

Questions please!

Hello all! New to this forum! I am pretty well convinced that the Ferrari 3400 is the machine for me! I have some questions if you guys don't mind. Sorry if some of this has already been covered. Looking at the few photos I have found of this thing, I can't tell if both memory slots are on the bottom. Are they both there or is one under the keyboard? Can someone please detail what Acer did with the partitioning? Some have said that it's split into two equal partitions. Some have said that they are FAT32 and others have said NTFS and yet again, others have said a combination of the two. I know the machine comes with XP Pro, but does it come pre-installed with SP2? Does Acer include a Windows XP Pro CD? Whew! Those are some of my questions. Thanks for your patience and thanks in advance for some answers.

One of the memory slots is under the keyboard, and one is on the bottom.

My 3400 didnt come preinstalled with SP2, but maybe newer ones will, not sure.

Yes Acer includes a Windows XP CD with the computer (it's required by law that they do).

Is the one under the keyboard easy to get to?
