Got my baby 700M - Page 3

Oh..did you get the 700m through Dell Home or Dell Small Business? Also, how did you check to see that the HD was 5400 rpm?

the thing is that i specifically asked the rep to tell me if the hard drive was 7200 rpm. he said it was indeed! when checking the hardware i found my 60 gb hard drive to be 5400 rpm. If you go to check online it only gives you the size not the speed as oppose to the i9200.
You get use to the speed believe me cause i came from a 10,000rpm RAPTOR.

Oh for the new users, iwould delete all physical data on the hard drive because it has so much shit like the mcafee's and other shareware. as well as the preinstalled windows Partition. I like to use my beautiful WipeDrive.
You will see how much faster your computer starts.

Thanks Beholder...did you order your unit through Home or Small Biz? Do you need to copy the drivers off of the machine before you wipe the hard drive?

sorry for the late, the drivers you should download from dell. its very simple and saves you space from the partition dell put.

I second that motion! It would be great if I could dump the cd drive (which I don't use all that often) and get a battery to put in the slot instead. I wonder if some aftermarket battery will pop up to go in there...

sounds like an idea but is it really worth the trouble? you can get an additional battery and plug it when needed instead of carring such weight if having both batteries inserted.

Yes, but why carry multiple batteries if you could have hours and hours of power by just swapping out a cd drive for a battery? Why is the CD drive swappable, anyway? There's nothing else to put in it.

I'm thinking of buying a 700m. I've gone from maybe, to yes definately, to wait a minute, to uh... don't know. This is a hard decision- especially after reading about the $750 coupon!
