Speak for yourself Merle, I put my "genes" on both legs at the same time.

And to think, he actually went so far as stooping to our level by posting

Ok, let's review. "We" supposedly lack the 'social gene' and are supposedly disgruntled, yet you, the supposed exception, can't seem to work things out outside of the courtroom. Suave.

I think that was funnier

In defense of Sager and PC Torque, it is standard policy for organizations to start the warranty when the credit card is charged. I don't blame them. I do the same. It's just easier that way.

I really don't know if you will read this but here it goes. First, if you state that your own policy mirrors that of Sager and PcTorque why get mad over the policyand ask Sager to make an exceptionand alter thier policy. I take offense to to what you say about us computer people; loving what we do does not make us dull and disgruntled. From my observation you did not keep your cool and did not try to work with Sager over the issue.

I don't see this as a good business practice if these were business related.

To close, if you think we are dull and disgruntled and you seem to be the exception you are very delusional.

Wow I'm starting to rethink getting the Sager after seeing this thread. It makes me a little nervous considering the downtime of shipping it out and a possibility of not fixing the problem at all. I sure hope to see a few resolutions in this thread before I buy it next month.

I wouldn't let Userx influence my decision to buy or not buy from Sager or one of their resellers. Userx, is a new logon ID that was created specifically for this "Rant". He was probably one of the many avid supporters for the 8890 that he has had for a year and did not want to confuse his current frustration with the machine's performance. Normally a laptop battery, if purchased from an outside/3rd party vendor, is only guarenteed for a period of one year. Some last a lot longer than that and some last less than a year.

My advice would be to check the condition of the entire machine, including the battery at the 11th month anniversary. If any problems are detected, contact Sager for resolution. This way your claim won't "fall in the cracks" on the last day of the warranty.

Userx is a disgruntled customer, that wants us to believe that he is a "home grown" lawyer; however, he does not have his facts straight regarding mail order/internet purchases. Additionally, his claims are totally false and self serving.

I have had Sagers for over five years and have remained satisfied. I did receive a bad machine. I returned it and purchased a replacement unit that has had no problems so far. I also burned out the battery on the replaced unit in less than 20 days.

Take what Userx has stated with a big "grain of salt".

Wasn't it resolved a couple pages into this thread (3-4)

Hello first post. Srq101 please take what has been said in this post lightly. UserX is a special case of somebody who is unable to use his awesome social skills for good. Sager and PCTorque are awesome company that will take care of there customers, as long as you don't act like a pompous person. This issue was worked out and sager did take care of him. Just make sure to do periodical checks of your notebook during your warrenty and you should not have any problems.

I have been browsing these forms for quite some time and after reading this post I felt compelled to create an account and post. I felt extremly bad at how UserX has treated the people that tried to help him. Good job UserX at using your amazing social skills to say thank you to all the people in the forum that helped you. I hope you find help so easily a second time around.

PS - sorry for any spelling errors. It is not my forte.

Over and Out,
Loumeer

Why?

Two day shipping means you'd lose 2 days in your year warranty from the year warranty. So? Unless you only report stuff at the last minute this isn't a problem. Anyway, since Sager said they'd give shipping date + 7 days its a non issue for most types of shipping including ground which usually ships within 7 days unless you're way off the map. Syn even said she got her 9860 before her credit card was billed...

Really, this is a non-issue.

Btw, you should also note that this was for a battery. Batteries are often uncovered, check warranties before you buy if this concerns you. (If say, your computer kills all batteries put into it then its the comps problem, not the battery's, so that's covered) Not sure about Sager, haven't checked. I'm guessing from UserX its covered in the first year but not in the extended warranty. For all we know, he just wanted a new battery at the latest time possible and kept dragging it out 'til the last minute.

We'll he wasn't the only one with problems LurkingJayHawk had a firmware issue as well. I'm quickly learning that PC Torque is one hell of a company to do bussiness with so I guess it makes up for Sagers minor faults (which this doesn't sound completely like Sager's fault any way). This almost solidifies my purchasing decision. I'm just trying to be as thorough as possible before I spend that kinda of money. No offense to anyone here BTW

Whoever you buy from or wherever you buy from, there's always the off-chance that you'll receive a unit that is defective. Doesn't matter who or where. Go look through all of the forums and find one that doesn't have their own problems. Just a fact of life, unfortunately. On some machines, it happens. So what you have to do is find someone that will be willing to work with you when if it does happen. That's why I chose PC Torque. And so far, Sager's been good to me. We'll see if they continue that if I ever have to get grumpy with them.

Well, PcTorque escalated the issue through Sager, and they did not call back. I then proceeded to send a rather pointed text call back request today at 3:30, to which they responded at 5pm. I received no real satisfaction through Sager. I called back PcTorque afterwards and the support person indicated that he would forward this to the "higher ups" at PcTorque to see what can be done.

I think I will hold off on going into detail until I hear back from PcTorque, and have a chance to reflect on my thoughts. At this point, I would find it somewhat difficult to respond in a professional manner on what transpired with Sager Support.

I may or may not post back in a few days, if I feel I can do so in a professional manner.

I am currently having a problem with Advance Logic Inc. www.copperbox.com regarding my USB HDTV tuner which doesn't seem to work. I recieved a non-working unit, have been getting very shoddy customer service from them and refuse to pay shipping to return it to them. I ended up filing a complaint with the BBB in Pennsylvania. I haven't held my tongue when I've spoken to them,

man was that guy rude, he must be nuts or damn dumb to think he made a company change there policy.
