Alien Respawn

I was wondering what exactly the deal with Alien Respawn is. I heard it is just a image cd after the integration stage. Now is the image exactly how the computer was when I first started it up or does it not have any drivers that they installed?

It is a complete image of your system before it leaves Alienware.

If the time comes, you can use AlienRespawn to set your computer back to factory settings.

Meaning, if something went wrong, you can have your computer back like the day you opened the box. It is a good thing to have just in case.

Any new drivers or updates that were done after you received your system, you would have to do them again.

The CDs you speak of are the Recovery CDs. Those should are still included with all systems.

They have the OS for your system, plus the drivers that your system needs.

AlienRespawn has the added benefit of automating this whole process for you.

Does the AlienRespawn have a little JuanG that pops out and dances while the system is restored (like the Microsoft Plus Dancers)? That would make my $7500 rig worth the cost right there.

sorry for the huge bump, but this is actually the first time i've needed to use Alien Respawn... but I'm not exactly sure how to do it.

I've put the Respawn CD in my CD Drive and booted the computer, but it takes me to installing Vista again instead of restoring my notebook to factory settings. If I continue with the Vista installation, it puts my old Windows directory as Windows.old and just installs another copy of windows on it.

How do you enable the system recovery?

Hi Steve,

If the disk says "Recovery Disk" on it then it's just an OEM version of Vista. Respawn normally comes with 2 discs. A Boot Disc and another disc containing the "Image File".

Respawn is just a "Glorified" version of "Nortons Ghost". Thats why you have to pay for it. You can actually use the respawn disk set to make an Image at any time you want, hence updating your original image whenever you update your drivers...

Uh oh. I guess I don't have the "Image File."

Yeah AlienRod has it. Should be an image disk with your system (along with the boot disk). Does it maybe have it on a separate partition of the harddrive? Not sure if Alienware does that now with the image, but with Vista installed it can be quite large these days compared to back with xp (would cut down on dvds they use).
