True:

Initial Analysis:

One of the marked hard drives is gone.
"Marks" on mobo are missing. - Good sign
"Marks" on other parts missing. - Also good sign
"Marks on internal frame still present. - Irrelevant at this point. I don't care about the frame as much as the rest of it.
I have a new power supply. It doesn't have the burnt smell the other one has. Even has that new plastic smell. Is the old type with fans not the fanless model.
XP-PRO installed w/SP2 in RAID 0
New Video Bios and MOBO bios. Version: BK-ATI VER008.017M.097.00 - Check yours out and let me know if we have a match at all.

So far so good. I've reinstalled the image of my computer from a couple months ago before all of these problems. I am adjusting the settings, updating bookmarks, installing programs, updating drivers, etc. Currently downloading HL2 and CS:Source so I'll be testing it tonight.

Other news: The hard drive activity light works properly now. This is good as it was always on before.

Not quite true. Depends on when you bought it and in all cases it is less than the one year period that you indicate.
I think there's a period of 30-60 days before the end of the initial one-year warranty in which you have to purchase the extended warranty. Don't quote me on that. Best to email PCT directly or Sager and ask them what the specifics are.

Reference Site: http://pctorque.com/policies.php

Philips:
You can add the cost of the 2 or 3 Year Extended Service Contract on to the cost of your purchase, or you can purchase the coverage at least 180 days before the new product warranty expires.
Warrantech:
**Warrantech Warranties can be sold up to 90 days prior to the expiration of the Sager warranty. Please remember that the Sager warranty expires 1 year from the date that your notebook shipped.**

Also Adam had an post that outlined how some are "Grandfathered" under the old policies.

Grrr!

I'm so frustrated, you have no idea.

So far, the glitch list is:
  • Will only RARELY start on Battery Power. Depends on what orientation the screen is in. Seriously. Also, will NOT fully charge the battery. It's been hovering around 41% for the past month.
  • Dead Nic. This happened first off. Had a PCMCIA nic floating around, so that was easy to get around.
  • Sound Randomly Dies. Usually while gaming for a while. Takes a reboot to fix.
  • Artifacting during CS:Source. After about 15 minutes of gameplay. Lately, it's almost becoming a snowcrash issue.
  • And finally: Noisy Modem.

I'm sending it in as soon as I get paid.

Figured I would add, I have a GX7 but they are the same as the 8790. Problem list:
1. Wrong processor installed upon recieving the laptop. (not the laptops fault)
2. NIC went dead
3. Power supply went dead
4. LCD is flickering and right side is very dim compared to the left side.

It is back at Hyper Sonic right now for the second time in 4 months. They are replaceing the motherboard for the second time.

Guess I am not the only one that got the new Underclocked 9700

Old clock speed 410/470
New clock speed 480/260

Its to bad... It seemed alot faster with the old card... guess that was clevos answer to the heat problem, downclock the vid card.
are you talking about the core clock speed of the 8790?

mine came clocked at 405/270 (either that or 410/260--something like that...)

as far as i know, the machine never came clocked according to what you are stating..unless you are talking about the 5690...where did u get those numbers from...?
