Well Sephiroth, you bring me good news and bad news. The good being that if they let you upgrade and I have the same mobo, I should be able to upgrade too. The bad news is that I already have to send the computer it to get repaired (won't boot) and I was hoping to have it back right around Christmas since they told me the average turnaround time was 5-10 business days.

12 business days + shipping both ways is their norm. Just hope that they have the parts in stock...

PM your account info so I can check this out for you.

The Motherboard revisions stated on the site are the ones that can upgrade to the 9700 vid card.

If any one has questions concerning the upgrade, to not hesitate in contacting us.

Hmm, they think it might be an LCD problem and I have the 16.1 inch screen which I'm guessing is not in stock right now. We'll see what happens.

Is it me or do i just not understand the answer fully.
Okay so the people with the motherboards listed under the ATI9700 in the gear shop DO NOT have to send in there computer to have them do stuff to the motherboard? They can just call and order the card...that's what I'm getting from this answer and that is what I have gotten from tech support from Alienware so i have no idea why Sephiroth209 is sending in his computer(we have the same motherboard 40A3.)

If you do have the 40A3 revision, than you would have to send your laptop to Alienware.

What did the rep inform you?

JuanG can you tell us what exactly they need to do to make our revisions compatible for the upgrade?

Also, if there are future GPU upgrades will we need to send our system in again?

On top of paying 299.00 for the card itself?

($302 + $299.00 ?)

Or was this an all in one deal?
The card is $180, I called Alienware... so I guess maybe your paying the extra for shipping and the work being done...

They advertise the MR9700 on the site for $299 and sell it for $180

The same for the 5700 $229 and sell it for $175

Anyone know the AW customer price on the Quadro?

$399 on the web, but what's the real price?
