Guess which one of these laptop coolers my notebook is sitting on and you have won the right to buy one your self no matter where or who you buy it off of. My laptop is worth over $3,400 why not keep it cool if that's what it takes for longitivity beside more and more RAM.

Laptops makes lousy investments. They depreciate faster than just about anything you can buy. Don't waste money trying to prolong its life -- just replace it when it's obsolete in two years. Likewise, don't waste money on extended warranties. Your first year warranty is free -- that's all you need. Why spend $100 to extend it another year when your laptop will only be worth about $500 next year? That's 20% for insurance you probably don't need.

OK, that's my rant for today :-)

I assume that's a reference to the city of Wooster, Ohio. Unfortunately, I don't live there, and I have never been there in my life. See this page if you want to know where my name comes from.

I think Chazzy probably is our president. This will date me: has anybody seen the movie "Being There" with Peter Sellers? A classic.

I wouldn't really consider my laptop as being an "investment". I consider it more of a consumable. I'm getting pretty good use out of it, and will probably use a 5 year depeciation table, after which it will be worth close to $0 (for me at least...I can give it to my little cousin or something after that).

...I still have a laptop cooler though, since I needed it when I bought my powerbook, which got REALLY hot, and could not be placed on the lap without one. You should also get one of these laptop coolers, if you use your laptop in bed...which I do all the time. It will keep your fan free, and clear. I tend to think that a piece of board would work almost as well though.

Wooster it looks like you backed me into a corner as to why I need a laptop, I ' crippled and have RSD(Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) on my left leg and pressure from anything leads to pain more powerful than Cancer. Look it up for your own proof out of all the bones in my foot and ankle 3 have knitted, the rest won't budge even using a TENZ unit for a year. I don't like to have to drag my disability out unless you back me into a corner even an animal will fight if backed into a corner. Besides guys you don't want a cripple for your president, women won't date me because they see a wheelchair not the cute guy in it. I have more money to burn than most of you earn, 2 incomes from Trucking and teamsters union and in 4+ years Social Security when I retire.

You can get used to a electronics set just as some people get used to pet. You don't want your rock n roll stars to die or like the fictious Eddie Wilson of the 2 movies Eddie and the Cruisers and EatC 2: Eddie Lives.
I can't sit at a desk with a desktop pc I have to have my legs up on a legs up lounger, it may seem like I have it all but without as woman to talk to andf other stuff, like isn't a bowel of cherries. Don't back me into a corner where I have to remind you I am crippled for life, no they can't amputate because I have my diabetes in check with natural forumla, they only amputate black dead flesh that blood can't be pumped thru.

Ummmm.... I didn't say anything about you being crippled. I was just explaining that my screen name is a reference to Bertie Wooster of the show "Jeeves and Wooster."

I got his one for you Wooster:

Chaz, what the frig are you talking about? Did we miss something in this post? Did Wooster flame you in a PM? How did his URL link referencing his name cause you to be backed into a corner? Chazzy, my dear NooB, please stay on the topic you created. Albeit, quite boring and useless, at least you'll maintain credibility in this time of utter vunerability.

Your being crippled has no bearing on your abilities as a computer hobbiest, professional, or aesthete; or whatever you want to claim, and quite frankly, won't change your reputation and knowledge on the subject amongst forum friends(assuming you can stay on the subject!) While it takes unprecedented maturity to admit freely, in conversation, the dark and frustrating truths of your personal and physical life, I'm quite shocked that you felt it appropriate to use your own disability as some kind of trump card defense against a very credible and interesting forum member.

You've only managed to destroy your own street cred. here. Pray this does not end up on the front page of Ogres "NooB of the Week", I'm quite sure Wooster is licking his chops right now!

i cant agree more dan!!
Chazzy, please stop venturing off topic and using your disability when you are confused. While I am sure many of us sympathize with you, your forum etiquette is rather odd. Wooster wasn't attacking you in any way, and I find your "go back to you USA state...." comment a little on the obtuse side.
yeah wooster never tried to attack you in any way chazzy. i don't know where you got that from.

let's restrain from using insults though please. chazzy is our elder, and although he seems a bit wacky, let's just give him some respect here.
respect is generally earned
I'm from the deep south and I have to agree with that. As for earning more money then most of us; I'd have to question that... I'm only 18 and since I was 16 I've been averaging around 50-70K a year without including any of my parents income. That isn't even a quarter of what they make. Also... where the crap did your disability come into play... that was way out in left field!
wait a minute....what the hell?!?

...did I miss something? When or Who backed anyone to a corner in this thread?

I'm soooo confused.
Hey guys, just drop it. We don't need to discuss this anymore.
