Well yes, that and that they release the 5680 @ the same time as the 8890 (or perhaps even earlier???? ).

I think prayer is a good idea in any case. I really would be screwed if it were too $$$$$ and I wouldn't have a 5670 to fall back onto. That would suck big time. Then I would have to buy the 4060.

Doggonit.with a prayerful out.

Thats the exact reason I may go wth the 5680 instead of the 8890. If i need a tv tuner card I can buy external and i wont need any more hard drives cuz i bought external for that. It is turning out that I am buying so much damn external stuff id be better off buying a desktop. ANyway, at least the power is still portable enough. I am hoping on a 3.2 with 1024 ram and a 40 gb 5400rpm hdd to cost under 2200 or so. I also wanted to buy some speakers (the logitech z680 seem to be the best for the price and many reviews put them as number 1)......Maybe sager can just gift me one of those monster machines

edit: i put on email notify trying to take it off so that i dont get a million emails

He'll get it for way less than 2600 unless he adds a ton of options like me.... (extra battery, access point/wireless, OS, UXGA)

Hello. If you plan on getting a gig of DDR 400 memory, that alone is going to be close to $1,000.. check out crucial; memory prices are going up and the DDR 400 memory is very expensive right now. A P4 at 3.2 ghz, 1 gig. DDR 400 memory in a 5680 is gonna push the price well past $2,200... Heck, even the Alienware laptop will offer Samsung 1 gig. DDR 400 memory chips and they told me the chips are quite expensive... certainly, the cost of the memory will be less than $1,000 if you buy the 5680 but it still is going to be expensive.

I don't think that's gonna happen. 3.2ghz P4s alone are almost $700.

i thought to get the full effect of the 800MHz FSB you needed to have the DDR in pairs, so 2 x 512MB sticks of DDR400 for 1 gig of ram...corrections?

No I honestly don't. Sorry if it sounded like that. Look at what a 3.06ghz and 1 gig RAM equipped 5670 goes for now, now add about $150 or be brave and face reality by adding $200, that's gonna be the price (about). The truth hurts. I know it. I want a wide-angles UXGA but also need the 512 of RAM and a Wireless LAN and a 60gb 5400rpm HD (7200rpm would be better but it is WAY beyond my budget) but I don't think I will be able to have all that for $1850 or so when the 5680 comes out and yet I don't want the 5670 because I absolutely totally need the wide-angles UXGA. Rant off.

Doggonit.Still praying for low low low prices and same-time shipping as 8890 out.

Both the 5680 and 8890 have the S/PDIF output. Does anyone know if that will work with DIVX encoded movies that have Dolby Digital 5.1 sound?

I hope everyone changes there mnd about betting a 8890. That means I will have a better chance of getting mine earlier.

Yes G is backwards compatable with B...but not everyone knows that. There aren't 2 chipsets there, just the G chipset that also does B.

Sounds good for me. It's a win-win situation. You get your 8890, I get my 5680, and everyone else gets their 4780.
