Davidlove, you make me laugh. You are so damn ignorant it's hilarious. Plus you need to work on English.

If Macs are as useful as PCs (i.e. have as many developpers and users) then they will be just as problem ridden and virus-infested as Windows based PC systems. It's either widespread compatibility or trouble-free use. Choose one or the other, you just can't have both.

BTW, you mentioned Scarsdale Middle School. That would happen to be the Scarsdale in New York, would it?
I have and use both but I prefer PCs over Macs any day. Macs are nice to look at (which is why they make such excellent props in movies) but PCs can be just as nice looking/stable/productive/etc. if you know what you're doing and actually take the time to maintain your system. There's a counter-point to pretty much every point you can make about why System X is better than System Z but it all comes down to personal preference... so, to each their own.

From your posts you don't know jackshit. and if you have to send in your laptop bc something with the operating system you can't fix yourself that's why you switched over to apple, bc u can't figure out how to fix shit with XP. I've been using computers for years and have never had a problem with windows. This is why alot of windows people don't like mac people, bc you just come in ragging on windows saying mac is better, and acting like mac is the best no matter what. Mac people tend to be hardcore Macs, when pc people really don't care. I like mac and think they look cool, even if i didn't like them i'm not going to be hardcore PC and just hate on them. I also think its funny how a ton of Mac people RAG on PC yet they have a PC they use for a certain purpose bc their mac simply can't cut it!
First of all I own many pc's and I love them Im not saying pcs suck a matter afact I love pc's alomst as much as I love macs. Second They said windows xp kept my cpu at full speeed on my laptop and I tried everything Talking on the phone with chemusa, called microsoft and ur best frineds from microsoft didnt do jackshit, I installed windows xp like a thousand times I even asked for help here and no one ould help me. SO im sorry I know alot about windows but There are some things u cant fix and they had to be fixed by the manafucature. So there u have it. Im not saying windows is so bad but compared to mac its like night and day. Thats why mac dosent get any adware and viruses sorry but windows simply cant compete. And on top of that ur saying windows is ahead wait till I tell the guys on macfourms there going to pee their pants
post #46 of 152
the reason why windows gets spyware and viruses isn't bc mac is better u idiot. Bc almost every household around the world has a pc in it. Thus more people on a windows machine. Why would someone make a virus thats going to infect let's say 100,000 mac users or 10 million windows users, if you were to make the virus wouldnt you want to infect as many people as possible? It is going to take years and years for apple to even get close to windows in terms of how many people use the operating system. The only real thing that's keeping apple up there is the ipod.

And if you would have read my post clearly you would have seen i didn't say a PC would kick the shit out of a MAC. If you like MAC state u like mac, don't rag on windows just bc u don't know how to tweak windows correctly. Every mac person i know owns a PC for a sole purpose BUT yet rags on pc.....i guess bc they are mad that their MAC can't do that specific task?

you don't see any guys on these forums when they receive their new dell say "just received my 700m, it kicks the living shit out of an ibook, ibooks suck, 700m rules" how gay is that? that's exactly what your whole thread is about.

hahah and OH windows can't compete? it is the number one selling operating system ever.....sounds like OS X can't compete, bc very few have it

maybe if u read my comments that i said that the reason why people own windows is becuase its the most compatible operating system ever here at my moms work she has no choice but to use windows becuase she needs some doctors program. But until today virtual pc 7 came out my mom is selling her 400 plus windows desktops and is getting imac g5 she own's a medium bussines down in manhattan. Also im sorry about the flaming post i will try to change ther name of my review thats if i can

macs and pcs are good

windows isnt as smooth as os x, but os x isnt as good as windows in some things too

price is just because its apple, but the overall price of owning a pc is more than owning a mac(of course depending on if you are a computer genius, pirate, or other things)

id just like to say that there is no way that boxers are better than boxer briefs

Come on kids how can you say, "No," to a lighted keyboard?!?!!!

I myself am an avid PC user. The reason? Compatability! But the lighted keyboard is awesome... and so is the latch for the lid... and the port placement... and well everything else that has to do with looks. I do have a friend who owns a powerbook and I must say, I am quite jealous of the look and feel of the powerbook, why do you think I am getting a Mitac 8050?!?

I do find OSX to be cumbersome and not super friendly on the most part... Most likely because I am just so used to the Windows enviroment, it's just a matter of the learning curve. The same reason I am not a Linux user. I know it's a fast OS and blah blah but how the hell do I do XYZ? And when something goes a little wrong with Linux... It'll takes forever to fix it.
I know just about every part of Windows since I have been working with it for so many years but the mac interface just leaves me dumbfounded and feeling stupid. Why? Because I just don't have the right mindset.

Macs do have their cons and so do PC's, we can ALL agree on that. Of course it it depends on your usage. I Myself am a .NET programmer, I like to tweAk the OS, I play games and I spend bunches of time on the internet. I don't need a PC laptop to program since I use VMWare anyhow but gaming seems to be the overall problem. Not that the mac can't handle it... It's just about compatability. Same goes for most other general use programs. The internet can be done on a mac as well. Tweaking? I couldn't tell you when it comes to a mac. Is it possible?! For me I would just rather have one laptop that does everything instead of a laptop for that, a laptop for this and a desktop for something else.

Now I do have to agree with the statement that the majority of Mac users are very... rude/violent/snobby about their opinion on the matter of Mac vs PC. Like the guy that confronted me in a Circuity City a year ago about how I MUST get a powerbook instead of the Compaq I was looking at. His argument seemed to be based on one thing, "Macs just work better." I am not saying that I don't like to be convinced or have a debate but what I don't like to be TOLD what to do, and quite rudely at that. He just didn't seem to get the fact that I have spent too much time learning the Windows enviroment and PC hardware and money on applications for Windows and the hardware needed to run it. And PCs just make sense to me. And for the record Windows, "Just work," just as much.

Which one blows which one out the water? You find me a PC that can do Y fast, I'll find you a mac that can do it faster. Then I'll find a PC that can do Z fast and then you'll find a mac that can do it faster. So, lets just say mac's and pc's are on equal ground when it comes to performance. It boots faster, there is no lag blah blah blah... Those all have to do with setup and configuration. The price factor is what the PC can beat the mac at, hands down. The reason? Competition. There are a billion makers of PC's and only one maker of mac's. Sure IBM's and Alienwares are expensive as hell but Dell's and other ODM's are cheaper then the Powerbook any day, hands down. For example: I just purchased a Mitac 8050 for a little over $1600. The closest powerbook is over $400 more and that doesn't include the 128mb version of the video card or the 1gb of ram (Which by the way is an extra $1000).

Very long rant short... It's only a matter of money, usage and compatatbility. Everything else is just personal preference. So, lets all decide to agree to disagree.

Can't we all just get along?

Go to the link below, read awhile, then come back & we'll do a comparision of 3D content creation between my M60 (faster CPU & better GPU than the test subject) & your powerbook

How old are you? Like 9? Because you need to learn a bit more before trying to argue some of your points.

question from someone with no experience on Mac's... so why aren't there any resellers/repackagers/barebones makers/retailers of Mac OS but non-Apple computing products?
my only complaint with Apple laptops is the screen quality. The 12" powerbooks screen just can't compete with some of the ultra bright wide screens we are seeing in alot of lightweight PC notebooks today.

Noise really isnt much of an issue with a centrino laptop either, my fan comes on almost next to never and the unit is much cooler to the touch than a 12" powerbook.

Other than that they are great little machines, just not the end all be all of portable computing that some people make them out to be.

For those that consider the person that started this thread a troll:

For everyone:

Lets try to keep this a civilized discussion and lets keep away from personal insults.

I must say, though, my limited admiration of Powerbook quality certainly hasn't managed to go so far as to make me admire the iBook. The iBook I just spent some time with at work felt like a piece of garbage. Made wholly of plastic. Ew. It still seemed to handle fine, but hardly superbly.

I believe that qualifies as an "OWNED".

The iBooks are designed to be carted around by students; ie, thrown into book bags and lockers, etc. They're a poly carbonate shell over a magnesium frame. They're actually tough little buggers.

I totally agree with Davidlove,

I am a dual platform user. Every day I site in front of a P4 PC, and a Powerbook 15" 1.5Ghz. OS-X is the difference, it blows windowz away...do your research. 2 years OS-X no system reloads..... 2 years Windows XP Pro - 4 system reloads. Do some research people.
