I'm trying to run this thing and I keep getting the error message;

unable to use the overlay resource to display the TV

What the hell does that mean?

Which drivers are you using? Try the latest ones that are available at their site. Make sure to first use the installation disk that came with it also. I have the same Sasem tuner it looks great on my Sony.

I'm in Detroit. The network affiliates here broadcast in HDTV. I wouldn't touch Comcast cable with a ten foot pole.

I'm just gonna chalk it up to a $255 loss and file a complaint with the BBB. I don't have this kind of patience...

Sounds like it could be graphics card drivers. Try updating them. Or if you have put odd drivers on it, try going back to the originals that shipped with the machine. Good luck.

i've just totally lost my patience with it and threw it into the closet. Seeing how there's no tuner from Sager either, I guess I'm just SOL. I've spent $300 on tv tuners and they either don't work or arent available yet they're still costing me money...sorry for ranting i'm just pissed right now.

Before I go and cuss out the people @ Sasem, is there any chance that there is something wrong with my 9860 that is preventing this thing from working?

I answered in the Tech Section. Two TV tuners in a single machine normally is not a good idea. The drivers conflict with one another. If you remove the internal TV Tuner and all it's drivers and then reinstall everying for the USB unit, it may work.

Well, I don't know about how a windows box deals with the overlay issue, but on a Linux box the overlay and it's availability is usually a function of the X windows system and only one device or piece of software can use it at a time. Could be that you need to turn something else off or specifically tell your drivers to use it.

A quick googling of your issue with this string found these fixes:
(I search with: winxp overlay error)

http://ad.doubleclick.net/adi/N631.C...2.04.22.33.47?

"I was having the same issue on my laptop, and I followed the links provided in the response to this question....I messed with NetMeeting by taking it off my taskbar and I went to Display Properties > Settings > Advanced and moved my Hardware Acceleration to Full. Voila! It works now!"

There are more items listed in that search. Hope this helps.
