Approaching deadline forces the issue: 9860

Oy, had to meet the deadline of having a replacement machine before the end of this year and so I had to decide. Came very close to buying the Ferrari several times but it just doesn't have the muscle needed for the next few years.

My 9860 is configured thusly:

Display: 17" WSXGA+ LCD (WideScreen 1680 X 1050) Color: Standard Factory
Finish: Regular low gloss finish
Processor: 3.6GHZ P4 LGA775, 800 FSB w/ HT
Graphics Card: 256MB PCI-Express NVIDIA GeForce GO 6800
RAM: 2048MB 533DDR2 (4 DIMMS)
Primary Hard Drive: 60GB 7200RPM
Secondary Hard Drive: No
Bay 1 Media Drive: 8x DVD+- combo drive with DVD+R DL Bay 2 Media Drive: No
TV Tuner: NTSC & Multi Pal TV Tuner(Out of stock)
Modem: 56K RJ11 Phone Modem
Network Card: 10/100/1000 NIC
Operating System: Windows XP Home (Mostly a linux guy)
Raid: No
Floppy Drive: External 3.5" Floppy Drive
Battery: 12 Cell Smart Li-Ion Battery
Case: Basic Black business case
Extra AC Power Adapter: Spare AC Power Adapter
Port Replicator: No
Wireless Network: Internal 802.11g wireless + Bluetooth
Software Bundle: No
Office Software: No
Warranty: 3 year warranty +LCD- under $4,000(Warrantech)
Repair Transit Coverage: 1 + 2 Years Ext. Warranty Shipping(US only) Export Coverage: No
Subtotal $3496.69
UPS 2nd Day Air $83.94
Total $3580.63

So, after all my agonizing, researching, reading, and speculation, the 9860 is the best I can do before deadline time. Not that I'm complaining, it's a whole lot of machine and should serve me well.

Thanks to PC Torque for existing and to all the 9860 owners for un-selfishly sharing their experiences here on the forum: You've all made a really difficult process much less stressful than it otherwise would have been.

I look forward to killing you all at least once.

Banana sacrifice...Woohoo!

I would also like to take a moment to thank everyone here on the forums for helping me make the decision to buy a 3790 a lot easier than I thought it would be. I really love talking with all you guys on the forums here and I think I'll enjoy it for years to come - even if my own laptop is a Toshiba. I know what I'll be getting next time around - that's for sure.

And about your 9860: sounds awesome! It should serve you well for a loooong time. Best wishes for no dead pixels!
