Hard Drive Problems

I have an old gateway that I have been modding and upgrading. I all really have a good hard drive in this thing, but it has a virus on it,and every time I boot up I get the Blue srceen of death. I tried easing the hard drive to start over but it will not let me( in the my computer), so is there another way to ease a hard drive?

Thanks for any feedback

If you get a virus, a good idea would be to format it. I would write down the error codes and look on microsoft.com first, though.

To format, you just boot from the CD, it gives you the format option right after the partition option. If you are using XP.

Assuming you are talking about your system drive (C. If you are not using XP and/or it is a secondary drive. Post more info on here, as that will make a difference.

or if all else fails, do a low level format. Basically writes 0s to the drive where there are 1s returning it to almost factory condition.
