First time here. Just ordered a 51m 7700 and wanted to know if the big lappy will fit in the AW pack. I fly alot and the back pack seems the easiest to carry through airports. Thanks....

Then your in luck as the only case they offer for them is the extra large backpack it's a little larger then the one for the 5500.

Well looks like they may have sold out of these when the 7700 first came out they were an option in the configurator but just now when i looked they were no longer there sorry. Im sure targus or some other after market vendor makes one that will work just not sure who.

I know that the 5500 backpack was too big for planes. So im only guessing as the 7700 is bigger than the 5500 that the new backpack will be to big aswell.

I use my targus backpack on planes and its pretty big the one that comes in silver or blue. The airport never says its a problem.

Alienware says they will have more XL backpacks and messenger bags in about a month, which is also when most 7700s will be shipping out, so I'm just going to wait and get an official bag. I like matching

I have a Ogio Metro backpack I use for my Roswell-m (same thing as Area51-m). It fits pretty well in it and the bag isn't huge. As long as the 7700 is not deeper than the 5500 then it should fit in that fine. The edges stick out just a little bit when I zip it up, the zipper goes all the way up the you can see the edges pushing out on the zipper. It has not been a problem for me and since the bag itself isn't huge there shouldn't be a problem carrying it on a plane. At first I thought that the zipper might break since the laptop was pushing out on it but the seams are so well put together that I don't think it would happen. Go check out ebags.com, you can search by laptop brand to find a bag that will fit it. They probably don't have a search for the 7700 yet but anything for the 5500 should work as long as the 7700 is not deeper than the 5500. Well, good luck and I hope you find something that works for you.

Adam specifically reviewed the Targus bags for the 9860 so depending on which one you have, the AW bag might be a waste of money.

pplepiew, thanks for the thread I do have the Targus 315, It works good with my heavy HP 5185 so I'll wait untill my 51m is here and check it out in the 315. I have had the 315 for a couple of years and it looks brand new. They are "bulletproof". I do like new stuff though lol. Thanks all for the information,This is a cool site and plan on hanging around.
