DVD+R burning problems. 4750 wont recognize blank dvds!?

Downloaded DVD-SHRINK and everything worked fine, but when I put a blank DVD+ into my dvd burner (Toshiba SD-R6372 (4X DVD±R/RW) Dual Mode (came with the 4750)) NERO wont recognize it. The disc is up to 8x and my drive is only 4x max so that might be the problem. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks!

firmware update should fix

My unit, a eurocom d470k came with a pioneer drive and its workin fine (though i would have preferred an lg). Maybe there is a firmware upgrade available on the net for that unit they provided you.

use the nero infotool to check your current version, probably 1030 by the sounds of it. I found a site where other users of your unit are having similar problems and if you follow the thread, it will show you where to find some firmware updates for it, apparently fairly recent too.

here is another place to find the files. there are 2 versions of the firmware so just make sure you select the one that matches your unit (firmware # would be similar)

good luck and hope it helps.

thanks

Thank you for the very fast response and for searching the other forum for my problem. I'll be downloading the latest firmware later today and hopefully that will solve the problem. It appears that without the firmware (according to some, it happens even with the new firmware ) the burner can not burn DVDs that are meant to burn "up to 8x." Rather they only can burn DVDs that are "4x" max, and even still it can only burn certain brands. Once again, thanks, and ill let you know how it goes.
