9860 problems with benchmark 3dmark05 and aquamark

I have a few ideas and I would like to gather a little info from other 9860 users. I have recently learned that my 9860 will run 3dmark05 and aquamark on battery but not on AC. I have ruled out the clock speeds on the card I believe. So now I am thinking this must have something either to do with the power settings in windows and on the nvidia drivers or it is something inside the bios that is messing up. I would like all the people who have had no problems running these programs on AC let me know if your os came preinstalled or if it came with no OS. Thanks in advance and lets see if we cant get this figured out for all us poor fools who cant benchmark .

Cheers to all and thanks in advance.

My OS came pre-installed but I don't think that is significant, I know the guys who installed the OS on mine (ITC - Australian distributor for Clevo/Sager) and all they did was put an OEM copy of Windows XP with SP2 on and install the drivers off the CD, I then downloaded and installed the latest video driver (v6.14.10.675) off Sager's website and the latest Realtek audio drivers. Someone else did hypothesise in another thread that being able to run the benchmarks may have something to do with having 2Gb of memory installed - i.e. having all four slots filled, or having the memory installed in pairs, I'm not sure but my OS and driver install is nothing special and I've never had a problem - other than the fact that my 9860 runs like a dog on battery power (still puzzled by this - not sure if it's related to your problem or a totally different issue).

thanks andrepeterhill I am not sure what is up either I mean it will run 05 and aquamark when on battery but wont run it when its on AC seems kind of backwards to me wish I could find out what exactly changes in the os and bios when you switch from AC to Battery and back.
